rather than condemning both parties, Spielberg could have remained impassive, letting the audience come to the conclusion that within the cycle of violence itself there is no guiltless party. Instead, he thrust it down the throats of the audience.
i must say, for a spielberg movie I thought it was pretty restrained. it worked in its favour
