I just had an interview last wednesday and thought I'd update the structure because its changed from what was suggested on here previously.
Basically the majority of interviews are held in Parramatta and in great numbers per day, so they see a few hundred people each day/session
You are sat down in groups of about 8, in a room of about 30. The first task was to grab an item out of a box and sell it to the group quickly, describing the 'features and benefits'. A lot of people didn't do this very well, remember this, 'features tell, benefits sell', a lot of people said things like 'and yeah its just going to be a good thing to buy so yeah, buy it. Explain exactly why its a good thing to buy because of the benefit it is going to bring the purchaser.
The second task was to sell two complement goods to the original good to the same consumer. I had a pyjama singlet so my other goods were pyjama bottoms and general underwear. So its that sort of thing. That was all we had to do. There was only about 15 minutes of actual group work, the rest was just listening to them talk about how great working at myer is, which noone really cares about, honestly I find it so funny when retailers think people value them as an employer rather than just a hand that feeds.
So yeah, just adding what they seem to be doing lately, hope this helps people prepare.
