yea i went thru the wizard and told it that the computer would connect to the internet through a hub or switch or something lyk that

Yeah, the network should still work with both computers connected to it. Make sure you have 'ip is automatically assigned' in your network settings. What switch do you have? (I don't know about cable modems, sorry)
but the network didnt work lyk dat....... how do you check if the ip is automatically assigned and my switch is a 'skymaster' 5port switch

i dunno if this is in reference to me but if it is, i know ma network does dat cos when ma cousin plugs his laptop into the network (with the original configuration) he can just access the internet and network...

A small rabbit hole....
Nah, with any broadband connection, you can only connect with one IP address to the ISP, which is why you cant connect the modem to the Uplink port and then share it that way. If you do that, only one computer can use it any one time, and thats the computer that hijacks the IP needed.

That's why we have routers. A router is like a mini computer that has its own IP and so can share the internet just as ZeGoat has done except ZeGoat has used a proper computer.

Oh and if you want to check your IP, go to start, select run, type in cmd (or command) and press enter. then in the DOS-style window, type in ipconfig and it'll show you your IP address,.

btw the actual problem with configuration was the internet connection sharing on C1 was disabled.... ewven when the wizard knew there going to be other comps using the connection... so yea it is as fatmuscle said.... wizards suck...
