I am class of 2027, and am looking for a Physics and Chemistry Tuition centre. I went to dr du for Physics and Chemistry last term and found it way too fast paced and basically failed the class. I wasn't kicked out but let's just say I failed more quizzes than passed. I am looking for something that will help me with some basic understanding and slower pace.
Can someone tell me there experiences and help me decide.

How fast/in depth do they go through the content?

peak does move relatively fast, they start year12 content early too.
for context i’m pretty sure we started year 12 content in yr11 august (mod 5) and then in january we started mod 7 and finished with plenty of time before trials to spam past papers.
BUT they are also very in depth. there’s plenty of detail and the notes they give are very thorough. there’s asterisks in the notes telling you the non syllabus stuff so you can focus on what’s in syllabus and use the non syllabus stuff solely as an extension for personal understanding/ if your school teaches it in a depth study or chooses to assess it in exams

I didn't go to any and I got very good results. 85 in physics (self learnt). 73 in chemistry (self learnt in 3 days with an AWFUL teacher)

Honestly for chemistry, I think ACE is the best pick. NGO specialises in math and peak's materials aren't that great. IDK about sigma but they're better at physics.

def not strict like dr du. at the end of each module they post like the top 50 for the module exam but thats not really considered strict ig. i think they send your mark to your parents if you give your parents phone number. homework is chill and the harder extension parts are optional sometimes but you do have to complete it. idk if it was my class but pretty much everyone would submit unless they had school assessments going on

Thank you! This is really helpful. How much homework do they give out and how long does it usually take to complete?

i go to sigma for phys+chem and honestly it's amazing
both my tutors are really clear in their explanations, always help you whenever u need.
there's also replays of lessons online in case you miss anything or wanna revise.

They prepare you well by giving you challenging hw and exam questions
i've compared sigma homework qstns to some of my friends' hw (who do matrix phys) and the difference in difficulty and depth is noticeable.

after all, physics is about application more than just putting in a formula and getting an answer and sigma helps with that.

also they mark homework online like exam marking with criteria and INDIVIDUAL QSTN FEEDBACK so it's good for actually learning from mistakes.

and the big bald guy that runs the place i think his name was Kristoff or Christen or something is really chill and knows every student by name i don't even get taught by him (the important yr12s do) but i know i have a place deep in his heart somewhere (i hope🥺🥺)

i think i talked too much about physics. although you can never talk too much about physics. but about chem now. so it's similar to phys
- hw is marked online and feedback is given. i always find chem easier but somehow manage to score less marks in homework practically every time
- exam for mod 1 was lowkey really easy mainly cuz of less qstns and a long time limit compared to like physics which had the whole class stressing lmao ------> but the only reason you go to tuition is to learn content early and more importantly to get challenged with harder qstns than school so you are well prepared for assessments so i hope they make chem test harder next time
but again maybe it's like the homework where i get less marks while thinking the exam was way easier 😔😔

but i like my Chem teacher a lot cuz he walks around the class and checks in with all the students whenever we're doing a question set in the booklets and he teaches stuff well

sigma is also doing classes where they start fron mod 1 from this term so if you join that you won't miss out on content.

that's all. thanks for reading but sigma is great and deserves all the glaze it gets

Thank you for the review. I would have gone to sigma tbh because it's priced the best and has great reviews. But the classes are full for the weekends:(

can't u just go after school or smth lol

From what I've heard, Peak is good for Chem. This seems to be especially true if you have Sir Roy Fu. Ngo phys resources look pre good too. idk tho i hear sigma is goated for phys

homework is every week. it takes like 20-30 mins some weeks, 10 mins other weeks. it goes from foundation questions which include multiple choice to development to extension questions (some weeks have extension) the biggest homework booklet in the year12 course was like 7-8 pages of titration and that took longer than 30 mins

DM me — if weekends are the only option, I can try to make smth work, especially if you have studied Module 1 elsewhere 🙂
