The USA is run by an authoritarian dictatorship?

More people do not make better decisions. That is not the strength of democracies.
The threat of accountability, as well as the rule of law, means that democracies are reliable and can be reasonably trusted with weapons. The leader of Iran or North Korea, cannot be. The leaders of such countries also have a habbit of hearing voices.

The USA and other western nations are democracies. This means that the power is not vested in one single person. Contrasting this with Iran, or North Korea, you can see why people would be worried. It isn't a case of hypocracy. It's a case of common sense.
ok lets check it...what the BAD communist nth korea has done in the last 50 yrs - Had one war against sth korea. after that??? Now compare that to the GOOD DEMOCRACY usa - Attacked vietnam, attacked irag, attacked afghanistan, then again attacked iraq.

Well there is no doubt democracies are better then dictatorship. There are so many peacefull democracies from nz to sweden to brazil. But the point here is USA being a democracy has attacked so many coutries in the last 50 years that it does not have a right to tell nth korea what they can do.

All of those wars were done with good intentions, even if they had bad consequences. If you have a problem with democracies you're always free to go and live in North Korea.

Ultimately the people, the law, etc. No matter what they can do, they are still more restrained than a dictator. As bad as democracies may be, they cannot just do things on a whim. They need popular support. Colonialism, invasions etc. All need the consent of more than one person. This safeguard is not apparent in dictatorships. Dictators also have 'selfish' motives, which see them use their weapons for strange reasons, not calculated attacks.

Dont u think what usa is doing is totally opposite to what democracy is??? Just because u dont follow someone's ideology gives u a right to attack them. So in that case can iran attack australia because australia is a working democracy and iran is not??

Seventh missile launched: report

North Korea launched a seventh missile today, an official at Japan's Defence Agency said, despite international protests over a series of earlier launches.

North Korea test-fired six missiles early today, including one capable of reaching US soil, although all splashed down in the Sea of Japan (East Sea), according to US and Japanese officials. Japan announced sanctions soon after.

The missile was launched at 5.22pm (1822 AEST) and landed six minutes later.

(This seventh launch has just been confirmed. Occured just over an hour ago)

UN security Council shall be meeting shortly.

7 so far?Where we are, i'd say that we're safe.

Korean War II? Cold War II?

North Korea is a country with political and economic ideas of decades ago. That's why we've all condemned the launches. So what happened to those 7?

We're the hypocrites. That makes all the difference in the real world. Then again, what makes you think North Korea wouldn't do the same thing in our position. The only thing holding them back from flooding the south is the threat of American retaliation.
The South has a substansial edge in conventional military terms.

The way i see it is, Nth Korea can do whatever the heck they want as long as they don't damage any other countries, i think it's about time we stop thinking the west is the good guys, Nth Korea could just be using this as a defence mechanism, they are probably just getting ready incase some idiots decide to mess with em, i see no problem in self defence, until they actually do something thats damaging, we should'nt assume they are using this test to start another war. The fact that most major countries in the world in terms of military prowness has nukes, missles etc etc any one of them can do damage. So i can't see why USA is threatening Nth Korea, they are the ones ringing into everyone elses business and the IRAQ issue is a complete joke, Bush is a joke, worst excuse for invading IRAQ (Nuclear weapon), they did'nt find shit. Not to mention USA was also the idiots who gave money to the Taliban, how bad did that bite them back.

And regarding japan and their imperialist views, Japan would be real dumb to start anything especially when China is like what, ur next door neighbour. It would be a complete demolition if anything did happen. Nuking China is like asking for a death wish.

And to Brogan, how exactly are westerners better? last time i checked John Howard is a Bush lover. If Bush says something Howard will likely jump on the bandwagon.

Yes but the North can match that through numbers.

Not really. Human wave attacks aren't very useful against modern militaries and the north doesn't have a big advantage in numerical terms anyway.

Dude, North Korea has some of the highest amounts of tank and artillery pieces in the region, if not the world. South Korea doesn't have that great a technological advantage over the north.

Im not saying they're a superpower but they are a threat to South Korea.
