ohhh an absolutely brilliant return for tigers vs cowboys with the handicap. -3.5 points on the tigers at almost $2 return.

Handicap betting is lame.

I reckon best bet would be Tigers 1-12 @ $3.25

If you ever bet on 1st tryscorer, always bet on the prop or second row. One day it pays off. Halatau @ $21 aint bad...

Yeah, ive heard negotiations have stalled. He originally wanted a 1 year deal to finish his career but now it looks like he may be going back to England.
Glass-Knee Bill Williams will take his spot at lock, which makes sense seing as though he'll be on $400 000 next year
Hmm. Yeah, that'd be expected. No point keeping the deadwood there when you have SBW, Mason and Ryan to be your starters 11 through 13.

I'm interested to see how Canterbury go next season. I don't think they will win the Premiership, but they could go really close if they can have an injury-free season like '04.

The problem won't be the whole squad, really. It's primarily that I reckon it will take Holdsworth and Sherwin a fair while to work together well as a partnership in the halves.

Dragons for the Premiership in 2006!

Also, I wish the media would f*ck off. They keep trying to talk about the Tigers being the "youngest side" nyah nyah nyah.

They should do their bloody research. If you bother going through all the teams and finding the average ages of each team, you would find that St George Illawarra are, in fact, the youngest side in the NRL by a fair distance. The Tigers are second by something like 7 months.

You know what, I really am tempted to do this. I love statistics. Dragons probably would be the youngest, but in the NRLs alltogether, I wouldnt put it past Souths either.

Being the lame boy I am, plu with there being nothing funny on TV, i decided to find out the Tigpies age.

For example, this weeks Tigers 17;

Hodgson - 27years, 226days
Fitzhenry - 25, 297
Elford - 27, 275
Whatuira - 24, 60
Richards - 23, 211
Marshall - 20, 213
Prince - 25, 211
Laffranchi - 24, 320
Farah - 21, 246
Skandalis - 29, 105
Galea - 27, 45
O'Neill - 30, 101
Halatau - 22, 240
Darren from Campbelltown - 21, 52
Heighington - 23, 255
Gibbs - 21, 139
Payten - 26, 252

All these were approximations to October the 1st [as it is easy to add up]

Average Tigers top 17 age; 24 years and 341 days

By the same rules as Bookie (as at October 1 using 30-day months)...

St George Illawarra Dragons:

1. Clint Greenshields - 23 years, 257 days
2. Colin Best - 26 years, 306 days
3. Mark Gasnier - 24 years, 71 days
4. Matt Cooper - 26 years, 162 days
5. Wes Naiqama - 22 years, 339 days
6. Trent Barrett - 27 years, 310 days
7. Ben Hornby - 25 years, 228 days
8. Luke Bailey - 25 years, 263 days
9. Dean Young - 21 years, 330 days
10. Jason Ryles - 26 years, 251 days
11. Ben Creagh - 20 years, 232 days
12. Lance Thompson - 27 years, 222 days
13. Shaun Timmins - 29 years, 54 days

14. Justin Poore - 24 years, 242 days
15. Ashton Sims - 20 years, 212 days
16. Corey Payne - 21 years, 143 days
17. Michael Ennis - 21 years, 194 days

Therefore, Average Age of the St George Illawarra Dragons = 24.577 years, or 24 years, 207 days.

Then, when you look at the players outside the 17 but in or around the 25, they look like:

Aaron Gorrell - 24 years, 180 days
Matthew Head - 23 years, 141 days
Michael Henderson - 21 years, 76 days
Daniel Holdsworth - 21 years, 153 days
Bryan Norrie - 21 years, 344 days
Nick Youngquest - 22 years, 62 days
Brett Kelly - 22 years, 211 days (he has got to be the most unlucky player at the Dragons. He was the most impressive of everyone in the trial matches playing in the centres, but he got shafted for Gasnier and Cooper).
Ryan Powell - 23 years, 190 days
Chris Sheppard - 24 years, 194 days

Add these guys on, and you get an Average Age at the Dragons of 23 years, 346 days.

On both counts, they beat the Tigers.

Thankyou to the media for beating up something which is incorrect, just so you can get your point across.

OK, I did the Sharks Dads Army;

Cronulla Sharks Top 17 2005;

Peachey - 31, 249
Simmons - 20, 300
Vagana - 30, 231
Mellor - 31, 39
Covell - 23, 326
Dykes - 28, 233
Kimmorley - 29, 15
Stevens - 32, 260
Hilder - 23, 150
Nutley - 31, 234
Williams - 20, 9
Bailey - 25, 125
Gallen - 24, 46
Maiava - 28, 340
Leuleuai - 28, 75
Galloway - 20, 28
Sullivan - 25, 102

Giving us an average of 26 years and 285 days.

I reckon only the Broncos could top that.

The problem with margin betting, as that there's too many variables.
Four possible outcomes as opposed to two.
That's why I avoid soccer betting as well - too unpredictable

Well it was announced yesterday that he signed a 1 year deal, so it looks like he'll retire at the Bulldogs.

C'mon Roosters premier league team!!!

Bookie, how'd you find the whole merged premier league side thing with Newtown this year, seeing the Roosters are doing it next year?

I suppose, but better dividends. I reckon head to heads the only one worth it really.

Fuck soccer betting, theres a line between taking a punt and being stupid.

Well its just your PL guys (Ie Soward, Lett, LEstrange for you guys) playing under the 'Newtown Jets banner'.

Pros - you'll get a few extra Newtown juniors who you can poach [We took Stosic I think]
-Theyll have an easier run making it into the residents side.
Cons - Newtown fans are up themselves ad will not support your team
- you wont see PL play at Aussie all but twice in the whole year, other times theyll be playing at Henson [which is a hole]

Thats about it I suppose. Hahaha, Daniel Dumas played for Newtown-Cronulla this year then left mid season to go to the rorts. Next year he'll be playing for Newtown as well.

Well there you go.

I bet he goes to England after 2006 anyway.

Albert Torrens has gone to Cronulla ... they replace the 31 year old Mellor with the 28 year old Torrens ... the Sharks are getting younger and younger!!

And I keep hearing about Ashton Sims being tied with the Roosters. I am sure that Mr Doust will not allow this, though, because Sims is the biggest forward prospect in the NRL (for Australia). I was contemplating an all-Dragon Australian front row (8. Poore 9. Young 10. SIms), but then I realised that Bull Bailey is only 25 now, so he still has a fair bit of footy left in him. And he'll be a Titans boy from 2007 onwards.

OMG ARRIVE ALIVE CUP FINAL IS ABOUT TO START ON TV. It's Endeavour vs Keebra Park (Benji Marshall's old school). If you wanna know the result, check the spoiler. I will personally be looking for the Endeavour centre, Chase Stanley, who plays in the Dragons Jersey Flegg team, to do some special things. I bet he will ;-)

Endeavour 20 def. 10 Keebra Park

Well its the big game today, hope the Tigers win but I wont be to bothered if they dont.

Bookie I was looking at the ages of the sharks players you posted, and holy shit there sooo old. I never realised that they were all so old. I thought more of the players were younger, oh well, next year there will be no Peachey, no Dykes and no Stevens... that should make us a little older... I just hope we find some young talent, because at the moment are young talent is a 20 year old David Simmons. And he ain't that bad, but he ain't that good....

Well, hows this;

OUT;
Peach (31)
Mellor (31)
Dykes (28)
Stevo (32)
Sully (25)
Galloway (20)

And in place of those mentioned above;
Albert (29)
Pomeroy (21)
Torrens (28)
Ross (25)
Kingston (22)
Bird (22)

So we lose 21 years on 6 players, an average decrease of 3.5 years there, but adding onto the existing team should give us a decrease by 1.5-2.5 years.
