I know there are a million threads about O-Week from various years, but I haven't been able to find anything that answers this (admittedly very specific) question.

As yet, the O-Week website at UNSW O-Week 2010: Jump on Board has no information under their "What's On" page, such as which talks are being held and when. I also looked at the ASB page but couldn't find when their talk is being held during O-Week. When do you think they'll let us know? It's only a few weeks away and I need to know whether I can miss a particular couple of days.

Faculty Welcomes - OWiki

Click on ASB and the schedule comes up. This is the only website that has the dates for o-week events, which I find odd as it hasn't appeared in 'What's On' yet. But I hope this helps :)

Thank you, I didn't think to check the Wiki. I presumed that, being organised by the same people, it would have the same information. That was very helpful.

Don't go to faculty welcomes. They're redundant as you get all the info elsewhere (either that or you already know it).

If you must go, stay no longer than an hour.

If not the faculty welcomes, then what is worth attending at O-week? It seemed like a good starting point.

Only go to Oweek on Monday and/or Tuesday. Later on in the week and things start to get much quieter.

Free pens woo
Are you asian?

I am.

I'd only go for the free pens too.

LOL.

Never done that though =.= I always thought the pens were too fat to write properly with.

I only go to O-week to buy my books.

Free pens woo

Besides Free Pens, and Free Bags at the faculty welcomes, you also can get your hands on free food, and free Nutrient Water/V/Lipton Ice-Teas on the university walkway on most days :)

Is that enticing enough for you excited first years? :dog:

o week sounds super over-rated.
pretty much. people seem to get so hyped up about the free stuff that they dont seem to notice the value of what they are getting is quite low.

you should definately find out where all your classes are in o week, they even have specialised tours to help you and if you plan on using the library, go to one of those library tours.

those are probably the only two things a newbie needs to do

Has everyone forgotten the point of O-Week? It's primarily to let first years become acquainted with the campus and with each other. If you're not interested in making new friends and already think you've got a handle on the campus and everything it has to offer, O-Week probably sounds overrated because it's not aimed at you.
