I'm in year 12, close to the HSC completion, and would like to know if I can retake it.
I'm not doing badly by school standards, even in the case of mental health at the start of the year I haven't fallen below a high B. I have an anxiety disorder that surfaces through irrational perfectionism tho as well as other learning difficulties (believe this is eligible for adjustment factors). I've only learnt to better channel this into effort in the last 2 terms, meaning I had a pretty staggered start. The school I'm at is fairly low in the rankings, and I worry about external marking if I can't rank high across my subjects. I'm looking to go into legal as a passion of mine, and understand the competitive nature of the industry, and that even with adjustment factors I may not qualify. I know this might not make sense, but my end goal is opportunity and I don't mind staying in HS another year. I was wondering if there's any way to re-sit the ATAR after trying out for another school, one that's selective. There's a reasonable chance to get in on year 12/11 grades, if that's what's accepted.
Srsly don't come for me -have yet to research more as I'm not sure if it's possible.

Thank you :)

Tbh I was thinking of repeating year 12 too, I've done pretty average/somewhat terrible so far. I'm probably going to do law as well but I decided I'll just do postgraduate law instead of doing it straight from high school. Have you thought about doing that? Also do you think your anxiety disorder will stay manageable? What if you repeat year 12 and you struggle with your mental health again? if you want to repeat at a selective school I think the applications are closed now but you could talk to your school and go from there 🤔

Would you be going through pathways? I'm not entirely sure of the process, think I'll ask someone in careers tmr.
I hadn't considered postgraduate law, that's smth to look into
It's a good point, but I feel I've found strategies since and it hasn't been a problem.
I'll talk w school, thanks for the adv 🙏

anxiety disorder that surfaces through irrational perfectionism?

sorry, but law as a career option doesn’t fit in flow chart

No problem 😊 postgrad law usually consists of doing an undergraduate degree first. I'm gonna do Bachelor of Arts and then do Juris Doctor. All together it would take six years but I personally don't mind since I think I'd prefer not to go straight to law school. And I can hopefully use my arts degree to specialise once I'm a lawyer. It really depends on the path you'd like to take, if you'd rather become a lawyer quicker then maybe repeating would be more ideal for you.
Also have you thought of transferring degrees? You could start a different degree and transfer to law using your WAM instead of atar
