oh, that's okay then....i can deal with it being over a certain height.....but if it's only for little kiddies, i'm going to cry.....hehehe, not really...but i'll be mighty upset. I also read somewhere that there is a 'secret' staircase from the speakeasy lounge to the casino.....that would be cool!

Here Comes the Sun
Released: 15 Jul 2004

A child-free sunbathing deck, oyster and sushi bar, queen-size beds, New Orleans-style piano bar, art auctions and two big new party nights are some of the innovations to debut this October on the biggest cruise liner ever based in Australia, Pacific Sun.

P&O Cruises has released details of the $35 million refit of the 47,000-ton ship, which will begin year-round cruising from Sydney on October 20.

Succeeding the popular Pacific Sky, which will move to her new year-round base in Brisbane, the 1900-passenger Pacific Sun will offer Australians a complete, floating holiday resort, with innovations never before seen on a locally-based cruise ship.

Bigger than the famous Titanic, Pacific Sun will arrive in Australia from the US in October sporting:

• A child-free sunbathing deck with alfresco bar on top of the ship
• oyster, sushi and antipasto bar
• queen-size beds in all cabins, convertible to twin beds
• a New Orleans-style piano bar called ‘Speak Easy’
• onboard art auctions
• two new themed party nights - ‘Pirates’ and ‘Super Heroes’ – where passengers can bring their own eye patches and capes or grab them onboard
• rollaway beds in selected cabins to accommodate families of five
• two pools, a twisting, two-storey water slide and two whirlpool spas
• dedicated children’s clubs catering for up to 300 children
• five restaurants and cafes including one open 24 hours
• nine bars and lounges including a nightclub, casino, sports bar and two-storey showlounge
• internet café, library, duty and tax-free boutiques and a fitness and beauty centre
• ten suites with their own private balconies overlooking the sea

P&O Cruises Managing Director Gavin Smith said the introduction of Pacific Sun as Australia’s second year-round liner would give holidaymakers seeking a cruise unprecedented choice in amenities, destinations and departures.

“Pacific Sun will offer everyone aged one to 100 fun-filled, value-for-money holidays to the South Pacific, tropical north Queensland and the Melbourne Cup, with more onboard amenities than any ship based here before,” Mr Smith said. “And because her sister ship Pacific Sky will now be based in Brisbane, consumers will be spoilt for choice when it comes to holidays at sea.”

P&O Cruises is offering holidaymakers the chance to be the first to experience Australia’s latest cruise liner by releasing special introductory fares on Pacific Sun’s maiden cruise from Australia on October 20, 2004. The historic 10-night round cruise from Sydney to tropical north Queensland is available from $1586 per person in a four-berth cabin and $2564 per person in a two-person cabin, including all entertainment and main meals. Conditions apply and subject to availability.

For information on Pacific Sun cruises and the latest deals, see a travel agent, call P&O Cruises on 132 469 or visit www.pocruises.com.au.

do you reckon they'll have all of the theme nights? or only a few of the variety available? I reckon more theme nights on a cruise = more fun....hopefully they'll have them all.

i agree.....but they'll probly have one night theme, next not, but the night after theme..........u no wht i mean, well probly have around 4 or 5 theme nights which i think is a good number as people don't want 2 dress up every night....... i would prefer more theme nights than non- theme definately

on the cruise I went on this year, we had the 1st night casual, 2nd night captains dinner (formal), 3rd night country and western, 4th night semi-formal, 5th night island night, 6th night semi formal, 7th night fright night and 8th night farewell gala dinner (formal). I'd assume, judging from that pattern, that the length of the schoolies cruises would allow for each of the five theme nights to be used...which sounds like you'll have such an awesome time :D

The first night will definitely be casual, to allow for people whose bags have not been delivered by dinner time (yep, it happens...one of my friends didn't get hers until 10pm on the first night....make sure you pack a spare change of clothes and your essential toiletries in your carry-on luggage...better still if you can compact your clothes etc into one small bag which you can carry on, rather than have delivered....that way you can unpack as soon as you get to your cabin and get it out of the way) and the second night will definitely be formal for the Captain's welcome. The club has theme nights too, which is heaps of fun....like pyjama party night and gender bender night :)
