now i know everyone says not to panic towards the HSc and to tell you the truth i haven't been .. but this week as the HSc seems so close and im panicking and i don't know how to calm myself down .. i mean i hope its not only me but if you really weren't panicking or even slightly nervous this week you must be brain dead because even the well prepared and brightest of all students need that stress right?

argh anybody have any suggestions to calm myself down ?

hey yeah i am feeling really stressed at the moment, i've done study on and off for the past couple of weeks and still don't feel very prepared, on top of this i just started a new job, and they have rostered me on three really long shifts this week, so i'm probably not the best person to think of calming remedies but try drinking lots of cups of tea and chilling out- with music or something

I know this may sound like a waste of time, but you could try meditating. Just put on some relaxing music and sit there with your eyes closed. Don't think about the HSC, concentrate on your breathing. If you can't do that, at least just think about something that makes you happy, opposed to stressed.

Always remember that the HSC is not the end of the world and there are backdoor options to achieving your future goals. In ten years time, people won't give a stuff about your UAI.

I'm slightly nervous, but I wouldn't say I'm panicking. And in no way am I thorougly prepared. I've either given up so I don't care anymore, or I just want to get this over with :( Just walk in there and hope for the best.

Blogging helps me. Also, jumping around to music for a while.......but then, music is one of my passions. Why not find something your passionate about and do that?
Because if you're anything like me, your passions will become a great source of procrastination. ;) I had to swear off posting in some of my beloved forums.

I only get slight panic attacks at night in bed when I have time to lie there and think about it all. My attitude is becoming one of "Just look forward to the end". I also try to make a point of not studying the morning of a morning exam and not taking notes to school to read right before it - it creates panic and whatever you read last-minute will end up being the only thing you remember.

Hmmmmm....I can't stop panicking. I am constantly cranky with everyone and will snap at the smallest thing, but I will also start crying at the drop of a hat. And when I'm frustrated because I can't figure out a math problem or something, I throw my crap all over my room and just sit there staring at nothing. The HSC has given me mental problems. Oh, and I can't stop procrastinating. If its not the billion trips to the toilet (tea goes straight through me), it will be my playful little niece, the yummy yoghurts in the fridge or bloody BOS. Studying is not going well and that stresses me out further.
And if you are anything like me, nothing relieves the stress. It won't go away until I put the pen down for the last time (in approximately 23 days and 20 hours and 30 minutes - cannot wait).

i see. Have you tried to say "ok, one hour of kicking a ball, and then I'll get back to work"? I no that lots of people try this, and it doesn't work. It does for me. If not, then I'm out of ideas. Sorry!

Having done my hsc last year and doing it again this yr (pathways) my best advice is do not worry. I have only just got my act together after 2 years and doing my first study on 2 yrs of sitting hsc exams (last yr i didnt even open a book) If you stay calm you will be fine. I find that studying alot when it gets close to the hsc i get panicky whenever i dont know anything and stress. If this happens to you studying in the next few days STOP studying take 15 minutes go for a walk have a shower or whatever and you will find coming back you will feel better and retain more information.

Last yr i sat my english exams and I.T and got 70's in the both with no study. So i hope that helps you out! i am not saying dont study just take it easy if you over do it you wont retain any information anyway!!!! My plan this year has been to study which i have done everyday for the past week or so but i take regular breaks such as the one now and i am feeling great and more confident.

Like the majority of you, the realisation that my first exam starts on friday has made me so nervous and emotional, damn it!! But after wise words from my friends and my brother, hopefully i can keep the emotions at bay.. Crazy dancing does help lol, and just music in general.. Its like every exam i've done i always leave things till the last minute.. But these hols i've focused way too much on pd/h/pe and not enough on ancient history, which is the one i need to improve.. good luck all..

Just occupy yourself with something else. I never stress about much which isnt a good thing cause then i procastinate. Go to a party or watch a movie and yes, music will calm you down. Even if you listen to music when you study then you'll calm down and concentrate more. Proven theory.

It hasnt hit me yet that I am going to be doing my HSC. I think I will only realise the 'significance' of what is happening after I finish.
