Just reserve the right to remove spam. However what is spam should be interpreted narrowly in an open discussion politics forum.

Almost anything in this place goes and can be discussed...and it certainly doesn't need an article for a decent political discussion.

...as in there isnt single thing on page one that doesnt belong here. Perhaps the thread about Shane Warne. But who cares? Let it die a natural death.
No there isn't. And infact this forum has been pretty spam free recently. I am just gearing up for a (possibly) spam-filled break. I honselty didn't think the anouncment would get much attention, and I assume it wont much after tonight (as this thread dies a graceful death)

Yeah thats fine Mr McLake.

But it doesnt really change much, other than preserve the status quo :p
Thank you Mr Asquith. It is not intended to change anything, merley formalise an understanding that the regualrs in this forum have, but newcomers may be unaware of.

Can we also clarify that entertainment news (such as who Tom Cruise is now fucking and, to a lesser extent, what's doing with Warnie's marriage) belongs in the entertainment forum, perhaps we could create a forum within that forum for such news?

Is there an open record of who killed what post/thread? How are the mods monitored in their actions? Is it public info or stuck in some SQL table somewhere?
The threads are "soft deleted", which means that any moderator or benefactor can at the very least see that a thread was deleted, who it was deleted by, and who started it. If you are a supermod/admin/mod of that forum you can view the content of the thread and restore it if you so wish.

I didn't think those rules were that bad, stop whining. Sif they're going to enforce them strictly anyway....

It's good in relation to the 349678973468946 Corby threads... :uhhuh: :uhhuh:

Yes well that rule is a tad pedantic, because surely we dont need to exclude debates of personal opinion purely because they dont have a relevant news article attached.
I find that a tad condescending ...

Yay for thinking that I had to go to sleep last night. I still don't agree with the idea of a thread requiring a news article in order for it to be 'forum worthy' ('the thread must be of substance in a hard news, politics and current affairs sense' would be a better, if far more subjective, phrase), and I also don't agree with the idea of an 'unbiased' mod being the better option for this particular subforum, as that way we are largely unable to determine whether a thread would be at risk of the 'at our discretion' statement. That isn't to say that we would expect a mod to abuse their power, rather that we would be aware as to what they consider a worthy, yet questionable under the new guidelines, thread to be. Calculon has a good point regarding entertainment news, too.

However, I'm sure that katie's point will ring true, so I guess that there is no real need to worry. To tell the truth, the only real issue that I have with this forum is that some members (we all know who they are) always seem to ruin threads in their quest to swear other forum members of the board. The only form of moderation that this forum needs is for someone with power to warn such users that their conduct must improve if they wish to continue to participate in the debates (using the term participate loosely).

The News & Pols forum has become a "spam scapegoat" for the inner echelon of the BoS bourgeois and has been defeated by the inner workings and politics of the BoS elite. I suppose that if more moderators posted here, more frequently, maybe we could be like the Chinese forum or the L&R section and escape any moderation what-so-ever?

leetom? Comrade Nathan? Up for some revolution?
lol

I just want to know how 12cm can be considered average...that means for every porn star there's a guy with no dick at all!

Exactly, what I'm saying is that for all the porn stars out there with like a 30 cm dick, there's got to be guys to tip the scales, which means alot smaller than 12...
Example:

10, 11, 12, 13, 14 = average 12
10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 30, -18 = average 12

Why don't we place a strict policy on 'serious' forums like this one, whereby you start killing (banning) members who muck up the atmosphere of threads. No strikes/chances whatsoever, just mass killings?

I understand then that there would be opportunities for persons of power to abuse the system, but I'm sure the strict mod selection process would usually prevail.

I have suggested "blacklisting", whereby people who are really destroying the forum can be banned from the news/pol area only (not the rest of the site), for a temporary period, say 2-3 months. This could be increased if they really muck up again when they come back.

A large number of below average sizes would take the average down. Also remember apparently micropenii aren't that rare (where the average erect is around 3"). And also the -18 should only be -6. (Since the last two have to sum to 24)
