The socialists in this country reduced the barriers to entry to tertiary education so now every tom dick and harry can get in to a bachelors in mystic hearing or in self esteem or something completely devaluing what our universities are good for.

99% of the people at Uni are idiots, because 99% of the human population are idiots.

Hell lets be nice and say 97%
I dont think this is a bad thing, they become smarter by undergoing tertiary education and its not exactly like their stupidity rubs on to you

Even UWA had retards - had some law/comm chick come up to me asking what equity was.
Nice, so she's a retard for asking you what something meant. Obviously she should have just kept it to herself and remained ignorant.

You're the worst example of what's wrong with education: People berating people for asking questions.

I think that ATAR is a good indication of intelligence for the most part. From my experience (could just be my school?) But all the guys who got 90 or 95+ were definitely more intelligent than the guys who got 80-90 or lower, and generally had more common sense. People tend to judge people on their "retardedness" before they even know them, so it's not really fair to call that girl a retard because she didn't know what equity was. There could have been many things she knew that you didn't.
And I guess it also depends what university you go to, for example, University of Melbourne has an average ATAR of about 94, and everybody I've met there seems to be very smart, while there are other universities where the average ATAR is <65 and the students motivation/knowledge is questionable.
Just my opinion.

When you start comparing across multiple schools you'll see the difference though.

I agree, you need to be intelligent to get a good ATAR more or less
