Very few philosophy graduates become lecturers (obviously) but quite a few become non-academic philosophers (aka welfare recipients ) - it's mostly valued for broadening your thought (as mentioned by leiara) - and being able to think logically and express yourself well - it is a very handy course to do for all sorts of jobs.
