I can't believe that even in 2006, we're still stuck with paper student cards.

for those who have their pre enrolment approved and thus don't have to go to the campus, how do we get our student cards? do they just send it in the mail and let u get it laminated with a photo later?

Well we have to pay our fees, so I'm assuming when we do that, we'll get our cards.

Plastic student cards offer so many advantages over paper cards, it's absolutely disgusting that we don't already have them. ISA stand for the introduction of Smart plastic cards, because in addition to all the benefits of plastic cards, they can also be used on campus in lieu of cash and they can be used in payphones etc. The university already issues so many swipe cards for access to various facilities, it would be so much easier to have a centralised database that can be updated to allow x's student card to open door 1154 or whatever.

We get a paper student card, and we bring a photo because they stick the photo onto the paper, then laminate it.

You can get a stacked vote and avoid getting your card mangled.

I have absolutely no problems with the current Usyd card. For crying out load, they're just student cards, and most of the time they're just sitting inside your wallet anyway. So what's the big deal?

^I second that. It's just a card.

I don't mind the laminated cards. I've seen some of the UTS cards and the photos look really dark, anyway.
