Mid-Year Enrolment 2006 Student Cards

The University will pilot plastic student cards during the 2006 mid-year enrolment process, from 12 July to 28 July. All students enrolling in-person will participate in the pilot, which will be conducted as the final step of the Stage 2 enrolment process at Room U420, Old Teachers College.

Depending on the results of the pilot, it is envisaged that all students will receive a plastic student card in 2007.

The new student card has the following features:

- re-designed graphics
- digital student photograph
- digitally displayed travel concession if the student is eligible to receive one
- capability as a photocopying debit card or building access card.
Bloody hell, now we'll have to be a tad more presentable than normal when we rock up to finalise our enrolment. Still, this development is long overdue.

My friend lost hers and got the hard plastic one - gee, it's even uglier than the current one. The only good thing is that it's an actual card rather than a tear-out sheet of paper laminated.

Anybody got a pic of the new cards?

About time usyd got with the times. They are quite slow to respond to technological developments. (esp with online enrollments etc)

I shall have to lose my current card. It dosent fit into the slots in my wallet.

The new plastic ones are only the "beta" version as u can call it. It is hoped to be improved to a good standard by the start of 2007.

ive been complaining about those cards since day one..cheap laminted pieces of shit..i didnt know there was a thread dedicated to it:p
youd think out of the $600 they made us pay at the begining of the year the least they could do is give us an ID card that doesnt fold like paper...

im just thinking out loud here....why do i really care so much....

The $600 was to student organisations, and they did, it's called an ACCESS card.
