I am currently wanting to do a major in Japanese studies (Introductory level) in the liberal component of Commerce (liberal) which requires the completion of 9 courses.

On this link: UNSW Handbook Plan - Japanese Studies - JAPNC13539
At the bottom of the page, the 2 courses,

Japanese Contextual Studies Courses
Do I choose one of those to count towards the level 2 contextual studies? If so, where can I find the list of courses to count towards level 3 contextual studies course and also the capstone course?

You dont have to choose a 3rd level contextual course to meet the requirements. It just means in your third year (or any other time you can fit it in) you need to do another contextual course inconjunction with the other contextual course (most likely done previously) to make it a total of 2 contextual courses for the major.

I've actually done ARTS2633 A Cultural Survey of Japan (6 UOC) two years ago and the lecturer/tutor for that course was my honours supervisor. I can say that it is a very very good course to do so i recommend that you do it for one of your contextual courses :D.

Ahh...so to get my Japanese major in the liberal component, would it look something like this?

•ARTS1630 Introductory Japanese A (6 UOC)
•ARTS1631 Introductory Japanese B (6 UOC)
•ARTS2630 Intermediate Japanese A (6 UOC)
•ARTS2631 Intermediate Japanese B (6 UOC)
•ARTS3630 Advanced Japanese A (6 UOC)
•ARTS3631 Advanced Japanse B (6 UOC)

Contextual:
ARTS2632 Contemporary Japan (6 UOC)
ARTS2633 A Cultural Survey of Japan (6 UOC)

PLUS a capstone course.

Does that look correct so far?
**Where can I find a list of capstone courses?

I'm not planning on studying Japanese [going to do French], but I'd also like to know what in the world a capstone course is, tried searching it on unsw for a while and came up with nothing. Anybody? :spin:

Shinsou, that looks about right.

I was enrolled in the old BA where it used different requirements for majors to the new requirements so the whole 'capstone' course is a new thing to me. So i cant help you there..
