Hi there,

I'm a 2010 HSC student whose marks at the moment aren't very promising at all.

I'll post some of my half- yearly marks.

eng (adv) = 75%
maths (2u) = 41% FAILED
ext maths = in the 20% range FAILED
physics = 64%
chem = 45% FAILED
economics = 64 %

im 2nd in physics and 1st in eco. that's all i have going for me.

BTW i'm speaking on behalf of my friend.

Thanks for any advice.

terrible cohort i would say.
The thing is, i have recieved distinctions and stuff for competitions in maths and science etc.
The only thing i have to explain my marks for years 11 and 12 is that i developed depression.
I've only recently been able to manage my condtion better, but it is too late, isn't it?

In year 10 i thought and many thought i would be one of the ones to get a 98+ UAI (at the time it was stil the UAI system).

Now, i'm looking at a 70 ATAR aren't i? :(

Yeah yyou should probably drop Ext especially if you studied for the exam.

But it depends on what you want to do and what ATAR you want to get.

Also cant you get like bonus marks for depression?

well mx1 scales alright

you never know it might count in your atar especially since it scales decently if you study hard.

Well, i missed most of the exercises but i did study the night before.
I had band 5s & 6s in my SC.

Right now, i'm really upset and i can't tell my mum what i'm thinking about because i don't know how she would react.

I want to do Post-graduate Dentistry at USYD.

Err lol, i am a very capable student - i did manage band 5s & 6s for the SC.

I didn't ask to be struck with depression halfway through year 10, i'm coping better nowadays thanks to the counsellors and support from school etc. It's just that, i feel like it's too late now to even do anything about my marks.

I really want to get into USYD and do something related to Dentistry and then take up Postgraduate dentistry.

yes.. you can repeat the HSC, but this would only exacerbate her depression imo.

think of it as going through hell and back..hell and back.. hell...

always wanted to be one since the age of 10, because of two good dentists that were cousin's aunty and uncle treated well
lost sight of this when depression struck but is now starting to realise that's what she wants to do.

Does anyone know, if a person can do:
Undergraduate Medical science @UWS and then try and get into Postgraduate Dentistry @USYD
