noone in my year is repeating
in my schools like 10 yr history, only 2 people have repeated yr 12, one did no better and one did slightly better
however, some people that dropped out are now doing yr 12 at tafe

I don't think anyone from our year is repeating. Three people repeated last year, but I'm not sure if it helped them..

now now, not everyone who repeats get the same crappy results

i know of one at my school who repeated, yep at the same school, 2002/2003, in 2002 he got a uai of 64ish but in 2003, finished with me and got a uai of 93ish
he was an international student

another one 2003/2004, repeating, don't know if he is doing it at same school
got uai of 96.9, not happy cause he didn't get into med, repeating chemistry and maths 3u

So became a christian, then fell pregnant to her boyfriend? Isnt there something wrong there.

That has to be the stupidest decision I've ever encountered. Firstly, ALL medical schools take into account the length of time you took to complete year 12, even if you were already eligible to enter university after the normal time. Therefore even if this person DOES get a better UAI this year, they'll need to do something else better in order to get in.

Secondly, they would have had an easier time starting a Science degree and transferring, as this would allow them to take some medically related subjects (eg Chem 1 and Bio 1) as well as starting them off with a good GPA. Sure it means more HECS, but once you're in Uni it's a lot easier to move around.

Some of those nutty splinter denominations condone premarital sex. :)

reminds me too. a girl at my old school has been "forced" by her parents to repeat year 11 because they werent happy with her marks. is this a valid judgment and reason to repeat the preliminary year that does not count towards anything? :cold:

and seeing the teachers again for another year  .. i i cant imagine how anyone could repeat year 11. at least make a sole attempt of year 12 and if you fail, then repeat again. but year 11.. pssshht.. it just sounds like hearing someone saying they study 5 hours for their SC :p well.. i think thats worse :p

repeating..kinda....I"m doing the tertiary prep certificate...it's way easier than the hsc - the exam for tafe's english version is a take home essay!
I think i'm doing it for 2 reasons:
1: I'm a fcuking dumbass who only got 57 for a UAI
2: I didn't do science or maths and I wanna catch up so I'm not a dumbass again in my future uni course.

see the thing is its harder to do that nowadays cos you won't get into uni with a uai below about 65.

its because of the howard government isn't it? LOL

i heard some unis allow you to apply for their courses regardless of your uai if you live in their area. but yea 57 is prolly a bit too low...

but for those who get 80+ the better choice would be choose the course that you're good at and do well in it, then transfer. :)
