1.There has to be at least one person who is average, hence there will be 49.999% below or somethign to that effect.
2. Below average at what?
3. This is only a limited sample group.

Mean, median, or mode? If you mean (no pun intended) "average" as in median, and the sample of people you know is random in the particular quantity you wish to measure, then there's a good chance that approximately half the people you know are below "average" in that quantity, in particular if your sample size is large (i.e. you know alot of people).

For mean and mode, then the answer is not necessarily likely, especially if the data in your sample is skewed to one side (e.g. alot of people have a low measurement, but there are a few people with extremely high measurements in that quantity)

Actually withoutaface no-one has to be average.

If you have a group of 1, 3, 5: Then the average is 3 one person will be average.

If you have a group of 2, 2, 5: Then the average is also 3 however, no-one will be average.

Anyway back to flaws: It does not always hold true, if you have a sample group such as the second example above over half are above average. If you had a sample group of 1, 7, 10. Then the average is 6 and only 1/3 of the sample group are below average.

getting there!
1) yes...average of what?
2) in relation to a particular characteristic, half of the people you know might not be equally distributed over a cohort...eg if youre an academic and you know other academics...then half of the academics you knew might intellectually be below average, but then again that same half are probably above average compared to everyone you knew including family

pretty neat stuff. But in a way arent we all below average in something. If the subject matter is not defined, then it should read " All of the people u know are below average". Is this right??
