You'll probably end up doing the same workload for them wouldn't you? You're essentially doing 2 years of work in 1.
Adding to this, you might not score the best possible marks you can in the hsc subs you do in year 11. This is because you aren't completely used to skills such as essay writing and analysis. (depends on the sub a little too though)

Also i'd find it a little boring just doing 3 subs tbh

I'm doing the same but at TAFE.
I find it flexible, the amount of work isn't as bad as it seems : P
I think it depends on the individual as for me, I didn't do very well in High School and was pretty much last in every class. I'm now ranked first in 2 subjects, the excluded one being English T_T;; but that circumstance doesn't involve year 11 work. For the extra amount of time I have, I use it towards volunteering and work experience.
