i used to work at the cinemas and trust me, it's better on than off. cinemas are boiling without air con.

also the reason they charge so much on the candy bar is because they make fuck all profit on the tix.

dont walk in at 9.30pm on a weeknight and ask for a table for 12. Fuck you the kitchen closes at 10 so i'm forced to seat you. This = a very unhappy work crew so chances are, your food and service will be shit and rushed. And then if i start sweeping around you at 11pm because you wont take the hint and leave, dont start huffing and look at me annoyed.

Dont ask to split the bill if its more than 2 ways, its a pain in the arse and chances are ill do it wrong and then ill get shitted on because the register is short/over. Figure it out yourself at the table and then give us the money.

dont ask for a double cap and then compain that its too strong

dont order a drink, and then AFTER i take it to your table, tell me you dont want ice. Too late, ill just use a spoon and scoop it out, you arent getting a completely new glass.

dont come in with huge strollers and then ask for a high chair. If you dont need the stroller for the kid, leave it in the fucken car... we dont have room to accomodate for all your shit. Do you see people walking in with bikes? No!

film companies take all of the money from ticket sales, a really high percentage anyway...

i used 2 work @ a small cinemas in a small town, and when 2 people come for ONE movie, we were screening it at a huge loss

ADD YOUR OWN

Customer (calls across shop) "Excuse me how much is this TV?" (plasma)
Me (yells back) "... oh the one with the big price ticket *pauses as she still looks like she needs healp* can you bring the price ticket here so i can see it?"
Customer ACTUALLY takes ticket and brings it to me. The entire store starts laughing at this woman.

In bunnings when you are assigned to an area, you can't leave, because someone cal steal stuff and you can't be aware of it, so I had someone ask where light globes are, fair enough I said aisle 29, he didn't look like he trusted me and went off in the opposite direction I told him where it was.
Comes back 5min later and says "where is it mate, you are supposed to help me" then I said, 29, over there, this is where hte aisle number is stored, if you arent smart enough to see that, then you are probably too stupid to install a light globe

then i walked off, this was today, fucking incompetent people seriously, i mean most workers just say its in "that side of the store" but i was right accurate on the aisle, seriously

Jesus. Hmm, there's a general idea among customers that you have to walk them where stuff is, I have no idea why, it's just so impractical walking someone to a product when they're going to just be indecisive (the idiots who can't find shit on shelves are always the ones that are indecisive and waste time).

No idea. Just by looking at the website you can apply there. It's a tough job, though, you need to be on what's called a 24/7 rotating roster, which means you need to say you are available to work, then they prescribe you X amount per week, and rotate you every week (they give two weeks notice of roster, though, I think), you'd get a full week just doing the night shift of 8PM-4AM. Also you need to do like 2 weeks training. You also have to get the Casino version of an Responsible Service of Alcohol License, which is pretty intrusive- when I got the Sony Employee Security check, they rang up about 4 people I know and had a chit chat, weird considering that I "got the job" so easily, whilst getting put through such a scrutinising security test.

Edit- PM me or email me to remind me to ask my friend if there are any tips for the interview/how to apply.

BIGW LAYBY RULES ( even more )
- Do not ring up and ask me to extend the 15 laybys you have. ( WTF is wrong with you?!?!)I have customers to serve and I am always here on my own. I do not have much free time to talk about ur laybys
- (TO STAFF) PUT THE FUCKING LAYBYS IN THE RIGHT SPOT. I get stressed out when it is 5 minutes to close and i cant find a customers layby
- (TO STAFF) Put the name stickers WHERE THEY CAN BE SEEN GODDAMMITT. Not of the back of the box which will eventually face the wall
- Dont make up ur own rules about layby. No we cannot deduct the amount of money that you have from the returns that you brought to the Coutesy desk for which you did not have a reciept. WE JUST CANT DO THAT FUCKER.
- If you asked to put something on hold 3 weeks ago NO IT WILL NOT BE THERE any longer
- DO NOT EVER make comments about my service to ur freinds loud enough so i can hear. That is so fucking rude and you will get shit service and i will be twice as rude back
- Dont ever ring the bell in frustration

Yeh I know, I wasn't having a go at you, it's just that in my few years of retail I've notice that some lame customers expect you to show them where stuff is- and THESE are the customers that will walk there (with you) and procrastinate and try to haggle.

i remember when i worked in layby (for like 2 weeks at xmas) i was getting really pissed off at this chick who is like a allrounder - can do any section in the store.. and she would get all the numbers mixed up, so when the layby was in bay 96 and we couldnt find it, we assumed she put it away and it was in 69.. 80% of the time we were right :)

oh and im one of freakin annoying employees that walks past layby and rings the bell for a laugh when im going out the back - i find it hilarious. Not that my friends in layby do :)

Yeah, when we were opening a pilot store in the city, this new guy kept just sticking layby/reserved shit in any area, rather than putting it in the predesignated place. It pissed everyone off - the state manager and I told him to be careful, and he kept doing it out of sheer laziness. I got pissed off and told him that he had to clean the entire back room and reoganise everything with stickers FACING OUT (damnit annoys me when people don't do this, it's actually against Sony OH&S as things can fall on people's heads if they are looking through shit), and it worked :D

- If you are trying to steal from us can you not make it SOOOO obvious? Please (reference to the weekend)
- Dont have a go at me (in layby) when other staff have treated you shit
- Dont walk all the way to layby for a pricecheck when there are about 3 registers and 2 scanners on the way and complain you had to walk so far...idiot
- When I say that we cant find ur layby dont groan and scream obscenities towards me. I didnt serve you initially biatch. You will get your money back so fucking relax
- I'm better than you, go away dammitt
