So i decided to make a marathon for science coz theres quite a bit of content to be covered. So heres how it works - i ask a question, then someone answers it and asks another question.

Q1) what's the difference between ionic and covalent compounds?

n an ionic bond, the atoms are bound together by the attraction between oppositely-charged ions. For example, sodium and chloride form an ionic bond, to make NaCl, or table salt. In a covalent bond, the atoms are bound by shared electrons. If the electron is shared equally between the atoms forming a covalent bond, then the bond is said to be nonpolar.

*OmmU wishes he was in year 10 again xD I can't remember any of the science course to offer a question :p Make one up: What is the part where neutrons and protons are in an atom called?

Ionic bonding is chemical bonding between metallic and non metallic elements where as covalent bonding is between non metallic elements. In ionic bonding is caused by the electrostatic attraction between oppositely charged ions; between non metallic ions and metallic ions. In covalent bonding, the electrons are shared between the non-metallic elements.

not too sure... is it 2Mg (s) + O2 (g) --> 2MgO ?

What are the types of electromagnetic radiation?

Explain the formation of a star.
nebula>protostar>main sequence star>red giant>white dwarf

if it is big then it turns into a blue supergiant, red supergiant, supernova, creates black hole and neutron star

switch - turn circuit on and off
conducting path/wire - to allow for the current to pass through
energy source - something to provide the voltage
load/energy user - something to use the energy

Natural selection is the process in nature involving a change in a factor of a particular environment which leads to a struggle for survival between the individuals of a given species where the organism best-suited to the new environment survives. In such an occassion, the organisms which have not adapted to the change in the environment will eventually die as those who survive will breed, passing their genetic traits onto their offspring resulting in an increase in the frequency of the favourable characteristic.

Define net force.

Natural selection is the theory proposed by Charles Darwin which states that the environment "selects" certain qualities to excel in the environment. Animals which can not cope, ultimately die, and thus a new generation of animals is created with the new quality in them which helps them live in their environment.

Explain why power companies bother increasing the voltage of power lines if it is only going to be reduced again before reaching homes. (from a year 10 textbook)
