Although I did expand everything out and I'm in the middle of trying to re-factorise everything. Fuck.

Why did u expand first? put as much as you can over a common denominator, and then cancel from there

There's no need to expand brackets for this question I don't think...

In fact, this is probably counter-intuitive but it's smarter to factorise <emph>further</emph> before doing anything else. There are clues in the denominator which tell you what to do with the numerator.
