Pittwater House is co-ed, but single-sex in the classroom.

I've heard from people who go there that it works very well for them that way.

Some other school's have started it, too.

I go to co-ed, and I find that fine, apart from some guy often being major distractions in class, but hey- the do at least occasionally provied entertainment

co-ed, definitely. i think there are a lot of benefits to being able to socialise with both sexes. at uni, the workplace etc you need to be able to integrate anyway, why not do it sooner than later.

not to mention the girls from the local single-sex school are freakishly obsessed with guys. if you have a boyfriend you're automatically at the top of the social ladder. they talk about them constantly and as if they were objects, and a fair few of them end up acting like total sluts because of their lack of exposure to the opposite sex. not saying all single-sex schools are like that, but the one near me is quite scary.

It's weird to reflect on all those memories without the guys. Wouldn't have been the same.

Besides, some single-sex guys/girls are really strange. I feel sorry for them.

I prefer single sex schools. It's better for just your girlfriends to see you in your bad years of high school and for no guys to be there when those 'embarrassing' moments happen.

I sorta agree on this point. Even though I don't get what you would actually mean by "embarrassing" moments.

Deffinitely co-ed. i used to attend a single sex school and the bit**iness was so overwhelming, there are alot more fights that in co-ed. Also, individuals develop better social skills with the opposite sex in a co-ed.

Yeah, that's what we'd sorta hope for with SBHS/SGHS. It's technically two schools, where most students share the same playground.

I'm co-ed, though the current year 9 is so terrible they've created an 'all boys' and 'all girls' class and class line for the worst of the worst, and from what I hear, it works very well.

I enjoy coed, but thats because I've always been at it. If I'd started out single sex, I'd probably be saying the same about it.

Our school is split up until year 11 (boys school and girls school), where the remaining two years are spent in a co-ed environment. I think we got the best of both worlds - having a classroom full of boys, ready to make the teachers life anything but pleasant, and interaction with the girls school at lunch and recess, and before and after school.

the only time i really missed the co-ed system was in PE. there's a reason why "woMANchild" is my subtitle.

then again, i like single sex better because i don't think that the solidarity in our could be achieved with guys around - even though i do miss the dickheadery at times.

I totally agree. In the real world men and women interact. In the workplace, in society and in life.

Some of my most hated days of high school were in year 8 when we had single sex classes for Wood, Metal (boys made things out of metal that would be classes as malicious weapons), Sewing (boys threw handful's of pins across the room at others when the teacher wasn't looking) and Cooking. (gosh the OHS people wouldn't be too happy to hear that.) Perhaps that had nothing to do with the fact that the class was single sexed but just the fact that year 8 is the most misbehaved year, and we were randomly mixed, but you get the idea.

guys in single sex schools seem to work. sure, girls can get bitchy in single sex, but guys cant.
