Pretty sure the main reason people here are single is cause they're the type of people so cool as to spend time at boredofstudies forums discussing relationships.

i think i just have high (almost unreachable) standards. But to add to that, i'm kinda odd in that i'd expect a girl to make the first move and ask me out... i guess no girl has ever been interested lol.

This post will sorta relate to the whole "teacher+student relationship" thing.
A friend of mine form Russia was sexually abused as a 12 year old. He became highly dependent on her attention. He's 45 now. He's missed plenty of chances at true love throughout his life due to that accelerated burden of such an "awesome" (by awesome I mean the staggering level of... well burden) situation.
On a personal note, I'll be 19 soon, my parents have verbally/physically (BUT NOT SEXUALLY) abused me for the past nine years. I feel disconnected with the masses at large, I'd be in an environment full of close mates, but I'll feel as if everyone in the room is somehow connected with umbilical chords whilst mine's been severed. I feel I'm going down the same track as that mate of mine.
