Wow it is cool to find a little enclave of like minded people. I love skylines and checking skyscrapers and cities on wikipedia- did so throughout the HSC and still gained an ATAR in the 90s :D I kind of wish my skillset was in this area so I could get into architecture and urban planning, but I'm a mere writer. Anyway, here's a certain skyline that I've always admired:

The city somehow complements its natural surroundings, a tricky feat.

Good thread! Some of my favs from those I have visited:

Chrysler building, NYC: the epitome of art deco elegance.

Hearst tower, NYC: one of my fav modern skyscrapers.

American radiator building, NYC: neo-gothic 1920s extravagance.

Terminal tower, Cleveland OH: beautiful art deco.

Liberty place towers, Philadelphia, PA: these two make the philly skyline unforgettable especially at night.

I'm not such a big fan of many of the proposed projects coming out of Asia at the moment. Some of them seem to be trying to hard to have that 'space age' aesthetic just for the sake of it.

I'm not digging MahaNakhon Bangkok. It doesn't fit in with the cityscape at all. Libeskind's designs get too repetitive this building is just a cross between his other designs One Madison and 56 Leonard. Too gimmicky for me.

i for one despise the motel on a jetty

mahanakhon- bangkok

i think this design works well to break up the traditional boxy form. Incorporates residential units very well into such a corporate building turning it into a well planned luxury mixed-use skyscraper . Plus i love how it seems like the building is deconstructing itself like the all spark effect ;) a+ for attempt of sustainability in the design.
amazing
