Hey, most speeding cameras ive seen shoot from the front, how do they pick up riders?
they don't
please don't ruin it for us and fang it through them so they get a bunch of front on shots of bikes and make us get plates on the front when they figure out how much money they're losing

also quik, you split on the vtr? I've done it once when I got sandwiched, and that was at like 40. I'm too scared to do it on a 250 because idk if I can do it fast enough. Ever get that problem or do you just pick the gaps?

Yah just make sure

Like if I see that cars ahead are going slower than me, as I come up I'll watch and see if they can hold a position in a lane... if some guy is swerving/correcting every second I won't split, even if the gap seems to be big enough

Lane splitting isn't actually illegal as such, but you can get done for "overtaking to the left" (in moving traffic) or overtaking too close in moving OR stationary traffic. Im guessing you'd only get done if the cop was a prick.

just out of curiosity.
before you guys bought a bike, how much consideration did you take into the danger factor? :)

I feel safer on a bike than I do driving a car, and have not really had any incidents in ~2 years of riding pretty much every day, except for those 'close calls' that were invariably caused by me staring too long at that girl in the short skirt etc

Lots, although my area doesnt get that many accidents in term of motorcyclists.

WOOT found a Mechy who specialises in exotics and imports.

not at all tbh
i think, like quik, i feel safer on the car than the bike
car feels heavier, harder to bring up to speed, just as hard if not harder to stop

provided you pull your head in, all in all, i think the bike makes it easier to dodge the deadshits

Wrong bro, a car will stop much, MUCH quicker than a bike. even though F=ma, F=umg
umg=ma, a=coefficient of friction*g

Bit simplified but more or less true, greater contact patch means cars are way, way better.

Hes last comment is true though, bikes do have the acceleration to avoid dickheads, something a kid at school needs to learn before asking to race me :/

yet to be outbraked by a car on the road, granted i've only been up against some like 8yo magna in a situation that would test it
and i haven't exactly been doing emergency stops in a zonda f to get the gist of a good stop
but I can knock 80km to 0 in about 15m, from my crude footstep measurements, daresay better than my car with four wheel discs and abs

i think the whole contact patch thing is a null argument when the braking force isn't large enough to create a loss of traction, though others would argue

EDIT: rely a lot more on the throttle though, brakes are useless unless you're going in a straight line, and fanging it would get you out of grief better unless something pulls across your path and you cant head around it

Ever seen a car stoppie?

Edit: I am talking about your "average" car and bike. Sure a 600 will probably outstop a corolla, but then again an STI will outstop it and so on and so forth. Tires really are the main factor (assuming both have enough braking force). Thing is unlike highschool physics friction, tires are extremely complicated and DO depend on surface area as well as a huge number of other variables. Like you said though, you wouldn't want to have to brake hard while taking a corner, and what not.

there was that 5th gear video with a 1098s or 1198r or something vs lambo murcielago superleggera

had a weave test, 60-0 test and a track lap
the bike won weave and lap and lost the braking by about 5m
fair amount, but considering the effort it put in against a 600k supercar it was a decent effort
