Syllabus notes - Do they really help? (1 Viewer)

Hey forum!

Just wondering if you guys think that following the syllabus is or isn't a waste of time?

Personally I think they're pretty good, but what about the extension stuff that can make you look extra smart?

Yes, it helps a lot for subjects other than advanced english especially chemistry and physics.

Although for modern if you can't be bothered making notes then just highlight the HTA study guide ^^

And yes, syllabus's are extremely important. For subjects like business, legal, ancent, (basically all HSIE subjects) and science subjects if you don't follow the syllabus in aswering your question, you instantly lose marks.

I think making notes doesn't work as well in the maths (except it does for General... well for kids in my school).

Mathematics is a skills subject and although rote learning will help you, it's all about showing you know how to do all the skills!

Notes in English, hell YES!

I only make syllabus notes for science and hsie subjects
none for english or maths

For math i just learn the formulas and how to use them. And english i get textual references/techniques/etc..

Maths and English you can't really use the syllabuses, but for things such as PDHPE you wouldn't be able to do well without it.

I'd say basically for any subject with the exception of maths, cos maths is pretty straightforward with all the textbooks there are

Yes. A thousand times, yes.

The syllabus just helps me to keep track of everything we've done. And once you know it well you can apply it to your exam questions and essays and what-not, if you know which section of the syllabus it relates to.
