Just thought that id post a few notes I made on some strange and unusual syllabus points that could possibly be in the test.
Tried to make as easy to read as possible.

Thanks

No it isnt in any module.

It won't be asked. Purely because 25 marks are given to each module, it is a skill, it should be used when you look up stuff.

i dont think you have to know any detiles on it. the point is under 9.1 physics skills H12.3e) (that is what it isunder in chem it would be about the same in physcis i just dont have my physcis sillybus infront of me)
the point is gather information from secodary sources by: e) identifying practising male and female australian scientist, the area in which they are currently working and information about their research.

becuase its under physices skills you just have to be able to reserceh information on a topic by "identifying practisning..." and as they can't give you a research task in the HSC exam you dont have to worrie about it, it just there so you teach at some point should make you do one of your reserach task by researching in scientist

well thats my understanding of it.

You will notice that the same points occur in syllabus for all sciences, like Xayma said its a skill your supposed to learn whilst doing the course

20% goes to each module including module 9.1 but you won't have to name one because it is impossible to mark and the dot point doesn't ask you to. Rather it is the process of using one in secondary research.

there are about 3 pages of them, some really stupid ones like make and justify generalisations. the only one you really need to know is
H11.2a) demonstrate the use of the terms 'dependent' and independent' to describe variable involved in the investigation.

That doesnt work because the option makes up 25%, and the core modules make up 75% so each module cant possibly make up 20%

If you add up the marks of hsc exams you will see the Space, M&G and FI2I get 25 marks each

Which is right but as the syllabus quotes:

Questions/question parts focusing on Core Module 9.1 will be incorporated into both the Core and Options sections of the paper.

When they do this the skills ends up being 20% of the marks they are looking for and will turn up in the marking scheme. You need the background of the module and options.

Eg todays chemistry
The validity and reliability question, the prac questions where they will be looking for the appropriate skills in the design, the appropriate and accurate use of the data in the ozone question, quantitative and qualitative analysis, identifying trends in the metal oxides etc.

So there is no point arguing which 20% is 9.1 but around this amount will be incorporated

Yes but you wont get specific questions such as the ones posted. You will get stuff like what are the variables in this experiment etc.

Exactly, they will incorporate them. They also may as a specific question of sorts.

Eg. The quantitative and qualitative question in chem.

So a possible question on the scientist would be:
Australian scientists are involved in the research of Superconductors. Explain how you could use these scientists as a source of secondary data.

But to ignore the words used in the section is asking for troubles.
They can also specifically ask about how you gathered data, identified data sources etc for any of the dot points in the right column that is specified in a point. This hasn't been done in Physics or Chem but has come up in past Bio questions. You then need to now what that section means.

Eg Identify data sources doesn't mean how to find books or internet sites

Anyway I heading out now.
