so im first year at uws and i was wondering about textbooks, i worked it out to be about $500 for first semester but i was wondering if we're able to borrow these textbooks from the library or do we HAVE to buy them?

No you do not have to buy them.
Be aware though that if you do borrow them for the library there can be a waiting list (so if you need it for an assignment you may not get it when you need it by) and if people are on the waiting list after you, you will have to return it so they can have it.
You could look at buying second hand books, most people tend to sell them for half their original price or so.
