Hmmm... I must say that it is bloody annoying to have the cricket replace all that is good about 702 for however many weeks over the summer. What makes it worse is that even though News and Current Affairs are meant to take primacy, the PM and the TheWorld Today programmes are always sidelined by some snotty-nosed commentator talking about the most boring of sports from the most boring of state capitals (as is the case at the moment). Yes, these programmes are also broadcast on Radio National, but though The World Today is broadcast at 12.10 on both Radio National and 702, PM is on at 5.10 on Radio National and at 6.10 on local radio, and given my routine, I always manage to miss the 5.10 broadcast.

Once again, it's bloody annoying.

cricket was a shit sport to begin with. the fact that they are on a credible channel really brings them down. then again maybe no one wanted cricket and they were forced to take it.

It makes a bit of sense in that the ABC covers the cricket yet Radio National and NewsRadio don't have the coverage of the ABC Local Radio network, but for those who aren't fans of the standing in the sun game, it's nothing more than a bloody annoyance.

However, at least I'm young enough to still enjoy what JJJ has to offer.

The JJJ announcers annoy me, they all sound like work experience kids.

Thankgod for the cricket being on 702...excellent! Cricket followers around Australia are happy that they can catch the cricket on ABC radio. It's only for a few weeks of the year...and people get tired of the channel 9 commentary team...and it means if I have to drive somewhere I can turn the cricket on and listen to whats going on.

This just means that we cricket-loving people have the chance to follow every ball of the match. At home (or access to a TV), watch it on 9, out and about, turn on the radio and tune into ABC. Summer just isn't summer without cricket

Radio National is broadcasting its regular programs. It's only NewsRadio which covers cricket (when it's on, which isn't nearly enough).

...

702 is a Local Radio station, Leetom, and I am yet to hear a cricket broadcast on NewsRadio myself.
