Re: The Official Football Thread

barcelona stole our kit for next season. and now our kit breaks tradition by not having the red stripe down the middle.

will take some time getting used to it.

England's Euro 2012 is falling part.

The following players have picked up injuries:

Lampard (Chelsea)
Cahill (Chelsea)
Barry (Manchester City)
Ruddy (Norwich)

With these replacing them respectively:

Henderson (Liverpool)
Kelly (Liverpool)
Jagielka (Everton)
Butland (Birmingham)

Ferdinand - never will be picked when Terry is in the team
Richards - can't understand why he's always overlooked, probably some behind the scenes shit with the FA
Sturridge - not much form in 2012, selfish player who won't work under Hodgson's system (i.e every player should work hard and track back)
Carrick - ruled himself out because he was told he wouldn't start every match, self centred twat

I'm not advocating his selections, just finding reasons why

There are more reasons as to why he should not have selected the likes of henderson, carroll, downing, etc. The fact that i've got as many goals and assists as stewart downing in the premier league this season is just one of those reasons

Henderson's a half decent player in centre midfield, Carroll picked up form at the right time and offers England a target man (Crouchy's too old) and Downing is shit but tracks back which is what i'm presuming Hodgson sees in him. The best players don't make the best team, Hodgson wants a team willing to work as a unit and defend well, 2 cleans sheets and 2 goals in 2 games reflects that

That being said, nobody expects England to make it past the group stages so nobody should be complaining about anything he does really

Guthrie > Henderson

Shame about Guthrie. Quality player but can't get into the starting eleven. He would walk straight into your team. Considering you can get him on a free, Rodgers may as well offer him a contract.

Re: The Official Football Thread

Something about his wage demands was the reason why Newcastle didn't keep him so I doubt Livo will pick him up

Re: The Official Football Thread

He was on 5K so it wasn't wage demands. We could easily pay for a rise. He did express the desire for first-team football so that's why we let him go.
