The band has stated on several occasions that it was a one off thing.

They are actually recording an album at the moment, hopefully it should be out later this year. For some reason I think it's going to suck though, because apparently they are now on Roadrunner (label filled with nu-metal and metalcore shit)

They tend to go with whatever's popular at the time really.
I think they're starting to push their nu-metal/mallcore bands a bit less now and they're constantly signing other types of metal bands.
In particular they seem to be pushing this whole "new wave of american heavy metal" thing a lot with like, Chimaira, Killswitch Engage, etc.

Even Roadrunner seem to have accepted that nu-metal is essentially dead so they kinda went after CoF, Nightwish and now Opeth.

And I know you're not a Nightwish fan but, the new album didn't suffer after jumping to Roadrunner. Let's just hope that the Opeth one doesn't either.

i have a feeling roadrunner wont let opeth do something similar to damnation either. damnation was not essentially a metal album but it was beautiful music, yet roadrunner are a 'metal record label' so of course opeth are going to go back and do blackwater park II or something.
