as much as i would love to believe that rhcp and the killers are coming, why would thye leave two big name bands (particularly rhcp) to the second announcement?? surely they wouldve been good enough to headline?

A lot of the bands announced already probably have enough drawing power to be decent headliners though.

The rationale in leaving high profile acts to later announcements is that it builds excitement, and adds to speculation like we're partaking in presently. If they put all their cards on the table day one and everyone knows to expect filler bands seeing as all the huge acts are in the first announcement, it just doesn't have the same selling force, and doesn't help build momentum like it does with a few big acts scattered throughout the later announcements.

rhcp will not be playing. ken west said in an interview that rhcp had been confirmed to tour, but have since pulled out because the next album release has been delayed till march 2006. i believe there is a link to it somewhere in this thread.

Either that or shortly thereafter, sort of surprised by how fast they're selling, but we've jumped in and got ours just in case. Works fine seeing as I was already happy to go with just the current lineup, money well spent no matter what's in the next ones (That said, I'd really like some metal in the upcoming announcements)
