What jobs can I get with a MedSc degree?
When you finish your degree you should aim to become a member of AIMS (Australian Institute of Medical Scientists) http://www.aims.org.au
Some degrees come with automatic membership.
With or without your membership, MedScientists can work in;
- research
- pathology labs
- cardiac technicians (performing ecgs, stress tests, etc)
- health promotion
- hospital scientists
- Teaching Medical and Science students (Tutorial-based)
Can I use Med Sc as a precurser into Medicine?
This question gets asked to death on this forum. It is possible, but I stress that unless you maintain a certain GPA (I'm thinking it's atleast a credit average, if not a DI) the chances of transferring into Medicine are slim.
Alternatively you can;
Try entry through UMAT
Try and get into Graduate Medicine after you finish your degree
What do I learn in Med Science?
This is specific to CSU, if anybody else doing MedSc at the other unis want to contribute...
Without going into subject codes, etc, I will do/have done subjects in the following
Anatomy and Physiology
Statistics
Microbiology
Law
Biochemistry
Histotechniques
Bacteriology
Virology
Human cytogenetics
Chemistry
Cancer cytopathology
Specific to Forensic Biotechnology;
DNA and Forensic Technology
Crime scene
Any more questoins...
