I think this could be the Dragon's year they have signed players with so much potential Costigan and Weyman and a player like Jeremy Smith who is one of the best back rowers in the comp under Wayne Bennet's guidance these guys could be anything

Under Wayne Bennett, anything can happen.

Cowboys just got Shane Hegarty, needed some sort of reinforcement.

"Controversial World Cup final referee Ashley Klein has been confirmed to officiate in this year's NRL premiership." source: nrl.com

There's something ironically good to come from the NRL management for season 2009.

Its unbelievable how many unloyal NRL players are out there. I guess since most retire in their mid to late 30's, everyone wants to grab as much money as they can.

http://www.nrl.com/News/PlayerTransfers/tabid/10248/default.aspx

Brisbane tops the list with 13 Loss of Players. WHOAH!!!
Followed by the Rabbits with 12 Loss of Players.

Teams in 2009 have really been reshaped. Going to be a very interesting and colourful season.

the one i really don't like is moving inter-codes. that's just crap.

your club and the nrl has spent a lot on developing you as a player, and you just bail on them.

Damn that really really pisses me off. Especially when you have clubs which contain OLD - SLOW - VETERAN players, then throws them aside and buys NEW - FRESH rising stars from other clubs that worked hard developing and training them to perfection (or trying perfect them lol).

On the other side you have teams like Brisbane and the Bulldogs. They spend and invest in youngest and rookies and develop them until after a year or two, they are shipped off to other clubs, overseas or to different codes.

yeah. it sucks. but you'll find it's not just the clubs' fault, the players are more than willing. it's just about money for too many of them.

wrxsti - you should group the list by the team they support as it gets bigger. then we know who to share our joy/sorrow with when our team wins/loses. obviously the former will be the only occurrence with the sharks, but for the others, you might have to consider the losing one =]].

Brisbane and Bulldogs not so much, if anything the last two years and that's a stretch and this was pretty much a forced hand due to retirements on the broncos and the establishment of the Sydney City Bulldogs. Canberra is BY FAR the most affected when it comes to keeping the juniors and rookies of the club (like St George circa 2003-2006 (jersey flegg), they have a very strong junior base) and then these rookies are being bought by other clubs. This said it brings into question salary cap, what are peoples thoughts on the salary cap?

I think they would rise the cap by at least $100 000 (minimum). I like the idea of if you have played more then a certain amount of years for a single club, that the club may increase the players pay package without affecting the salary cap at all. An example would be Darren Lockyer.

With the signing for Bulldogs, with multiple broncos and dragons trades, how on hell they are going to be within their salary cap? Someone must be getting some sort of PAY CUT. Some might say they got rid of sonny bill but with so much signings, i cant figure it out.

Clubs like the Broncos and Penrith(at the moment) seem to know which kids in the area will be great footballers. Newcastle's scouts on the other hand aren't as good Inglis goes to HSH and nobody thinks of signing the kid, Tana Umaga one of Unions greats comes to Newcastle for a trial and feels homesick nobody convinces him to stay and give it a shot, it continues still by letting players like Callan Richardson and Boyd Cordner go they need to get their act together first identify the special ones and sign these kids early
