Disappointing.

I have read the book which is absolutely brilliant and this is a poor adaptation.

The acting is absolutely fantastic and i happened to be chatting to John Hillcoate's sister-in-law a couple of days ago who said that a whole heap of it had to be cut and it had to be made more financially viable. She also mentioned that he had problems with Viggo being fussy.

But for fucks sake John Hillcoate, can you do a landscape pan shot for longer than a millisecond? This would have been so much better had it have been done in a similar way to the Cohen brothers' No Country for Old Men.

Go and see it, in any case, but definitely before you read the book.

I'll list my other problems as others reply

yeah i know, but i also like to treat them as two entirely different entities. if i hadn't read the book, I'm not sure I would have enjoyed this any more.

let me bring up no country for old men again (based on a cormac mcarthy book as well) as an example of a very good adaptation
