First person I asked if they wanted one (after they said they didn't have one) was like "Yeah! Sure!" - Totally hope that was le Mystery Customer.

Babicakes. Atm, I don't spend longer than 15 mins in any one time on a register, due to managing.. But when I do work a register shift, I'd agree on about half an hour.
Waste of my breath for my $13.69/h

I was once typing in a barcode from a RTC label because it wouldn't scan, I was literally 3 numbers away from finishing it, and the smart C*** decided it'd be handy to reach around and swipe his EDR.
I said "-siiiiggghhhhh- I was typing in this long barcode, and you cancelled it all, and your EDR didn't work" - I gave him a deathstare and didn't talk to him for the rest of the transaction. - Bearing in mind I was having a pretty shitty day already
That made me furious just fucking reading it. I'd be SO pissed off!

How do you do 6am- 3pm on a Monday with school? Or is it like a public holiday or something where you are? I would die with that many hours with studying... how do you cope!

i think its a public holiday in melbz.

even so mat, are you coping with that many hours? I'm struggling at the moment with 20-25, and I only have two contact days per week. Don't forget to set a limit somewhere.

ouch, I've got:

MON: 1530 - 1930 [Public Holiday]
SAT: 1630 - 2130
SUN: 1430 - 1830
total: 13

not last week but the week before was pretty epic for a school week:
MON: 1700 - 2100
WED: 1700 - 2100 [Dairy, extra $0.245/hr]
SAT: 1115 - 1615
SUN: 1700 - 2115
TOTAL: 17.25

I got an extra $1.25 for the sunday shift because of the double time after 9pm rule.

It's kinda a tricky situation with me. If I wasn't doing self serve, I'd be rostered for 15 hours max (two 1715-2215 shifts and one weekend shift), but with self serve I know I permanently have those days/hours (perm-casual).
The issue is, I have to come straight from school to work and start at 4:15. So If I get homework on wed or thurs I need to do it at school which is pathetic.

Also the reason I would find it hard to stop doing self serve is because they need me, so the guilt factor along with the money i know i will be getting every week, it makes it hard.
Also my manager loves me (aswell as most of my supervisors) for being reliable and being their second hand whilst im in self serve.

Lifes hard :(

Also yeah, public holiday for Monday (hence my CSM gives me the longer self serve shift lol <3 her), and the SSM today basically said 'we gave the other 15 year old the night close self serve shift because we want you in the morning', probably cause there is more you have to do with more responsibility. Her words = "No, we need/want you for tomorrow morning, not night".

I don't have a clue how self serve rostering/training works, but surely they'd be able to spread some of that out among others. You're doing yourself a complete disservice by letting them rely on you for ALL of those shifts. Have a chat with your CSM before it starts to get too much, at the end of the day its such a delicate balance that you've got going there.

I'm SO not the best person to be giving this advice but still...

If you need/want to chat though, facebook me :) I know you're well acquainted with it.

egh I had the worst shift today :(
stupid me agreed to go out with all the officer cashiers last night when I had to open this morning..... "nooooooo, youll be fine, come out just for a little while, you'll be home by like 12ish......"
yeah, getting home at 530 and having to start at 730 is not a brilliant idea haha. When I started doing the grids I realised that I think I was actually still drunk lol.....
i made one of the poor little operators walk around the corner and get me maccas :p

but yeah, hangover aside, we were so busy today, and there was not one single person too call for an express alert in our store. I had the shits big time and called the trading manager to come up and serve, her reply was "well its busy, youll just hav to deal with it, ive got things to do...." riiiiiiiiiiiight
Meanwhile I had all but 2 of our large lanes open (and we have 18 large lanes!!!) each had trolleys 3 deep, and i was serving on express, with a line to bakehouse, smokeshop, plus trying to run the floor at the same time. I made the other supervisor go out onto a large lane cuz it was so busy. I was soooooo bloody pissed off. And then we ran out of bags. Brilliant.

Over all, fantastic day, and to top it off, I think i hav to the flu as well. :(

On a happier note, 2IC relief for the next 8 weeks, whoop whoop :p

Heh, first week back at uni and I cranked out 48.25 hours paid in five days, probably about 52 or 53 total. Brilliant...will be interesting to see how the overtime goes down :s
