It depends how sharply it was pushing up inflation, if the question is regarding the Rudd government in particular then certainly there are no problems on that front. I don't accept that all stimulus spending is malinvesting so that's not relevant.

No the market does.
no problems so far..

its not but the majority of it is which is why i have a problem with it in the first place

why?

1) Wasn't commenting on the response of the economy thus far but on the spending itself.
2) Case of what %, clearly I think thats a lot lower than you do.

3) It's not really but your statement was a stupid one considering you knew that I meant that even if the government had spent consistantly with the previous government it would have plunged into debt as trade slackened and lots of people moved from being productive workers to job seekers in need of welfare.

1) fair enough

2) yes it is

3) the government can cut spending and remove welfare payments so in essence it places it self into debt nobody is forcing the government to do radical stimulus spending

And if it did so it would plunge further and further into recession. I guess though that's what you like, revenue keeps collapsing, government keeps reducing to avoid going into deficit, ultimately the government is stripped to the bone and when someone discovers some oil it builds back upon again with a pale imitation of a government if any. Sure the very foundations of society crumble in the meantime but gee whiz! there's less tax!

how could the government fix a recession anyways?

they can avoid one by dissolving the fed but how can they fix one, unfortunately spending as much as u can as fast as u can doesn't work

and the government being stripped to the bone would help us out of a recession XD

Hire people to build and fix stuff. The usefulness of a school hall is a bit dubious but the idea is right. I personally favour fixing dangerous roads, developing green industry and building residential properties.

all that is doing is just providing temporary assistance and re inflating the bubble which will explode again as soon as the stimulus ends. this is why i disagree with stimulus spending all it leaves u with is an even worse off economy which takes longer to recover and a huge pile of debt

It create assets for the government, many of which can then be sold once the market has begun rallying of its own accord and it keeps people employed, creating wealth and giving back some of the expenditure through taxation. An unemployed man creates no capital whatsoever: no assets, no revenue, nothing.

1) Involves picking winners before the race has even started

2) Encourages rent-seeking by developers and constituents, which may lead to less-optimal use of the land, for say ultra-high density living that has a minimal ecological impact versus very low density living that has a quite high ecological impact.

i didn't say he was the worst PM ever I'm sure there have been much worse

what I'm saying is that the wealth and living standards of a country is determined by Economics. Rudd has Clearly no idea about Economics thus this is going to drive us into a very long recession when wall street crashes again. A Liberal party government would be beneficial as they wouldn't partake in such economically fallacious activities. so for the next 5 years a good Economic policy fucking trumps anything else
This is all debatable!!!!!!! what I'm saying is its your opinion...
this is not facts (in bold) you are stating.... its trivial for gods sake.
face it, your not going to convince me because we both have opposing views

i see your point - i understanding why you state that justification - but i dont share the view ie. i dont link the labor party with economic decline. you can spit quotes and figures as much as you like - but realise it really wont change my view at this stage.

call it what you like - its just another example of you making giant stereotypes.
i dont see it as right or accurate.
