Did you guys find the UAC guide helpful in determining your 9 preferences? What did you make of the guide overall?

It was useless. Anybody who needs it do decide what course they want at uni is seriously unprepared.

It didn't help me that much - I knew beforehand what course I would like to do, and what universities offer it.

The UAC showed me in more detail how to apply for your preferences, deferring 2006 study, and the cut-off's (which have suprisingly gone down or stayed the same for what I'd like to do), of which I had a basic idea of what they would be in the first place.

Interesting to see Journalism at UTS has gone from 94.7 to like 93.2 .. a tad more attainable. Yay.

hmmm well i havent really looked at them

I'm mainly using the individual university guides that each publish, and the relevant faculty handbook thing.

I find its easier/

But they were last years cut offs. Theres nothing stopping them from going sky high :p

Just had to put a negative spin into it.

arent the cut off's you get the ones from 2004?

So there's still a chance?

I forget

Yeah, Slide Rule is semi correct. Don't just use this to determine your course... maybe in the way to order them esp putting your preferences by what you wanna do most, THEN by uai...

Go to the open days. Talk to people. FInd people who actually do the course. Even on BoS, give them a PM.

Funny, my preferences filled all 9 until the last minute where I just wrote:

1. B Music (Composition) @ Usyd
2. B Music Studies @ Usyd
3. B Music (Composition) @ UNSW

And left it as that.

Seemed stupid, but I knew exactly what I wanted to do.

It was that or nothing, really.

yeah, not really a 'help' more a 'reaffirmation' of my decisions :)
and seeing as a source for help, doesn't really reflect someone who is unprepared, maybe more someone ...undecided

Barely any of the info was new, so it wasn't that helpful to me. The 2004 cutoffs have been released for a longtime on the net. I also find the formatting really annoying. It's quite difficult to line up the course on the left handside with the UAI cutoffs on the right. I haven't even looked at all the application details at the begining of the book yet.

from what I can see, the law ones didn't change dramatically if at all...:'(

Laws at UNSW dropped from 99.35 to 99.15 and USYD remained at 99.6

however the business ones have changed, well most of them anyway...
