But for first years, you'll smile, giggle and twirl, overcome by the novelty of being a uni student. Enjoy it, because it'll wear off to the point of being a homicidal 4th/5th/6th/7th... student who is too cynical for their own good. Dam, u r scaring the hell out of me already,coz i have got 7 years of medicine a-head of me in Monash, so i think i m in the death panel already. ohh hell here i come .

Yeah, I was shocked by how horrendous it has become. I didn't think uni was going to be this shite.

As for the duckpond lawn destroying... they're building the area up, hence the brickwork around the path, the imported dirt and soon to be new grass.

And for the dipshit that told me to line up at the unibar and not push in..... you fucking first year, what fucking clue do you have?

it's just a bore...haven't done anything yet, just subject outlines and going over all the stuff we already know...lecturers are boring as....meh maybe i expected way too much or something, or something different or something...i duno, all i know is that its boring.

They really need to upgrade the english speaking requirements of lecturers. I'm willing to deal with a class full of international students who make no sense but lecturers really need to be able to speak clearly.

One of my lecturers is basically impossible to understand. He may as well just stand at the front and scroll through the notes and not say anything. In fact it would almost definitely be better if he did that. Another one isn't as bad, you can somewhat understand him if you really focus but it's easier just to read the slides.

You can't get any more horribly boring that sitting in a lecture doing nothing because you can't understand a word the lecturer is saying.

umm because doing assignments and studying is always so exciting?

generally if you have decent subjects uni is as exciting as it can be (as opposed to horribly boring if your subjects are crap!) as the content is somewhat interesting to you...
i'm not sure about anyone actually finding the concept of doing work exciting though The funnest bits of uni are the socialising bits...and the social activities etc outside of uni classes

lol you make a good point. breaktimes and socialising and all that are pretty sweet

i'm just sick of hearing words like sols and e-learning and all those constant reminders during first few lectures..and going over all they told us at enrolment day and orientation....it'd be nice to start learning <something> for a change....i did go to uni to learn a little after all....

i tend to avoid those lectures...i learn more at home reading the lecture slides then i do there trying to take in what the lecturer is saying and thinking to myself "wtf is going on HUH?!"

Unfortunately both those lectures are in between other lectures/tutorials so I can't skip them without having an extra hour to waste. (I already have a 2 hour break before each of them)

One thing I do know is that I'm definitely not sitting there and listening to them all session. I might just go to the lecture and do something else (but listen to music so I don't have to hear them talking) or maybe even have a few beers at the unibar. I have a couple hours worth of stuff after them to get back to 0 before driving home.

watatank: there's some pretty clueless first years, not to mention those that didn't attend oweek info sessions etc so the lecturers tend to like to cover important stuff like that just in case...and to cover their arses. Enjoy the time without assessments whilst you can - no excuses not to socialise and its a great time to go out excessively and be guilt free...

On a side note, what on earth has happened with the bar staff? There's been a total staff turnover (well last night there was) since last year.... this is terrible, now I might actually have to wait to be served.
