my mate failed 8 subjects in his 1st 3 semesters at UTS.

after graduating he was on 45K

2 years later 80K

5 years later 110K

now he is on 140K after 10 years.
What kind of engineer? if he is one.

"Employers don't really care which uni you went to".

people who say this are idiots.

You shouldn't be worried about getting a good engineering job when you come out of uni, you should be worried about becoming as good an engineer as possible, because that is what will ultimately determine how good a career you will have.

"I kno sum1 who went to UWS now he earns millions of dollars LOL"

Okay, but what's to say that he wouldn't be even more successful if he had gone to a better university?

----------------------------

That being said, given the current lack of engineers in Austrlaia, it's not really THAT important which university you go to. Though if you're doing something like mechanical engineering, it would probably be a good idea to try and get into the best university you can, because given it's popularity, you're going to want to become as good as possible at it so you stand out from the crowd.
Why not at least try UNSW? It really is so much better.

What makes you assume UWS engineering is inferior?

UNSW has far more resources and when you are learning with a generally smarter crowd, their intelligence and enthusiasm could rub off on you.

and USYD and UNSW campus are cool
better social life and stuff
ect

all these things can added up
but ultimately you make the greatest difference considering alot of uni is done by self learning.

But having people that are passionate about what they do and being able to collaborate with them will help heaps.
