I had to pay $590 union fees upfront for the whole year, which I still haven't been able to manage to pay my parents back for and I still have a few more textbooks I need to buy.

Government ads and Print media. Last 6 months.

Man in his 50s reading the paper. VO about how common the problem is. How men over 50 should have checks.

Testicular cancer pales in comparison to prostrate cancer. Which will impact on more than half all men in their lives. The government puts a fair bit of money into this. But men are pretty uncomfy with the issue and don't respond well to TV adds anyways. The government has focused on changing the attitude of older men. Makinf sure they know that its very important and that the embarrisment of having a probe done it better than death.

Government ads where? To be well publicised nowadays a campaign generally has to be on TV, and I don't think this one has been.

There has been a fair bit of prostate cancer stuff on LATELY withoutaface, that actually gives the statistic (as many men die from prostate as women from breast).

However it is FAR behind the breast cancer campaigns..

I know there have been lately, but the fact is that it's been a problem for years, and while breast cancer ads have been all over the place for ages it is only recently that mens ads are being put up.

So you're claiming that MEN are the problem? While i agree that many men are nervous about going to get their prostate checked, so are many women to get their breasts checked.
Men don't find the 'idea' difficult to grasp.

You know, claiming that there are any inate differences between men and women won't be too popular with alot of ur lefty buddies..

It's far behind because many men still find it a difficult idea to grasp. I think the Prostrate add was taken off because of a complaint.

Men find it difficult to grasp because they have not been exposed to the idea for long enough.

EDIT: And I'm sure going to a clinic for a pap smear isnt the most enjoyable experience either, but there are still widespread ads for it.

No student union activly is pro gay rights. You will find they prefer to implment anti discrimination principles.

It doesn't help when men like you dont even know testicular cancer is a self examination.

3 mins of education on the issue should solve it.

But certaily don't expect the current federal government to go all humanitarian and welfare like on the issue of cancer!

That 3 minutes of education is not being provided in the media! I know it's a self examination, I'm not stupid, but there needs to be more advertising on TV saying "Go to your local post office/library/this website/wherever for instructions on how to perform one".
