try contacting the actual newspaper, but it was my understanding that if you managed to get your name in the paper, that's a good achievement?
or do they put EVERYONE's results there.... :s

well they only publish the names of ppl. who got above 90 for their subjects (along with their subjects ofcourse :D )
the board i think actually sends all of us a letter informing us that our names mite b published, and in it there is an option to choose not to allow them to publish ya name....but then again, who wouldn't want their names published in the newspaper, if u get above 90?

There must be a reason her name was in paper....
There are far to many HSC students to place all of them on the paper

Um, no, why don't people just accept things, it is possible to be incorrect you know?

It was a paper, from the petrol station, that came out the midnight of the UAI, and everybody was in it. Yes, even her friend that got a 35 UAI. Its only 50 odd thousand pepole, you need a name - UAI, nothing else. And I know it did take up many pages, because I was looking for people to laugh at. When I see her again, I'll ask about it, OK?

you had to tell them ages ago when you were signing that subject choices paper, you could tick if you didnt want anything given out or something
so is that it now? too bad if i don't want them published? i don't even remember signing anything about that but surely it can't be too late to change it...?

yes u do have rights not to have ur marks/name published, but only the ppl who get 90+ in subjects get published, whats the shame in that, id love for everyone to kno i got 90+ in a subject. Anyway they dont publish the specific mark just ur name and the subject(s)
i know. and it's not totally unlikely i'll get band 6 as i am first in all my subjects except one. i just get creeped out by the idea that people from my school, my old school, as well as teachers etc are going to be looking for my name/student number to see how i did. i'd really rather keep it private even if it is something to be proud of - it's my business and i don't particularly want to show it off.

It was not last year, but the year before. I don't see what the big deal is with having a number next to your name in a paper? OMG its invading my privacy, winge winge.

no its not.. i mean they don't even publish a mark. it's not anything i'm not proud of if i do achieve those results, there's just certain people i DON'T want knowing that i KNOW would look.

anyway, for the information of others, i just called the board of studies and they told me if you dont want the information published you fax 9367 8078, include your name/student number school etc of course and just tell them you dont want to be published in the paper OR on the board of studies website.

nah, just sooner is better i guess, and make sure you tell them to reply, the lady i spoke to on the phone was a total bitch about it so i wrote in my letter something about awaiting their response for a confirmation of action being taken. if they don't reply i intend to hassle them with faxes every day
