I have gmail set up as my uni email, but direct it straight to my hotmail account.

The thing that shits me the most about hotmail is that you can forward all your mail from gmail/yahoo >> hotmail, but cannot do the reverse w/o paying subscription

Gmail 100%. I only use my live account for Windows Live and general microsoft services. I don't even check my live emails.

Plus, Gmail includes numerous extra features, such as Google Calendar, Docs, iGoogle and many more that I use on a regular basis. AND my iPhone doesn't like live, although it works with Gmail without any hassle at all.

Gmail has been the best I've worked with. I enjoy the conversation function, keeps it easy to keep track of emails sent back and fourth between clients.
