These are two major sacrifices I will be making for the HSC:-
-Cutting down on number of social gatherings.
-Minimising time with technology (am referring to phone, net and television).

How about you?

Well, if anything, I've been coming on the 'net more and more (blame BOS :p ). Don't watch that much tv nor am very particular with the phone (mobile, on the other hand, is a different story :D Damn just got my last mobile bill :( )
Agree with the social part.

Other sacrifices will probably include sleep :mad1: and other after-school activities (i.e. sport).
Ummm... I'd probably also say my poor hand will suffer from so much writing.

If I think of anything else to complain about, I'll get back to you. :)

Sacrifices I have already made:
- Stopped playing weekly tennis
- Stopped weekly swimming
- Limited times I could watch TV
- Limited times I could download and listen to music

Sacrifices I will/*may* make:
- Use up my afternoons after school (where I normally relax) for homework/study
- Stop sleeping in on weekends

Not making many changes to my life.
Cut out some sports such as soccer.
Reduce time spent on the computer.
Cut back a tiny bit of social life.

I'll be sacrificing a lot of sweat, blood and tears :hammer:
I'll be sacrificing a lot of pens and paper.

Talk less? Does that mean sewing your lips together.

J/k lol

Gosh, you are all very social people. C'mon, you need friends as support and as something to resort to when breaking free from friends.

2. MSN. I dont know. Shoot it dead.
3. Socialising - heck yes...this will SAVE me from study overloadski.
4. Step up work a bit more methinks.

No sacrifices.
I'm going to balance my life rather than cut it back.
I wish you good luck. There almost always has to be compromises, even with a balance, but if you can find it, good on you. :)

As for me, I'm cutting back on the time I spend playing computer games and sitting doing nothing on the internet. I'm definitely not cutting back on sleep (that would have a negative effect), and I spend a fair bit of time working as it is, so it's just really turning the time wasting into something more productive. It's an important year... :p

I guess I'll turn 'doing nothing' into study, but the rest of my life will stay if I don't have to change it (and I haven't had to so far).

Yep, definetly don't cut back on sleep! That's just silly.

Good luck to you too, hope you achieve all that you wish! :)

You can't make that many sacrifices. You need to have some life! You need sport to destress and to have fun.

I haven't necessarily deleted MSN, however I have absolutely stopped using it. I stopped mid- December. I am absolutely addicted to Smallville. I don't think I will be able to give up that series.

Trebla seems like he's on a ball.

I'm particularly sorry to hear your sacrifice luscious- llama. Didn't see something like that coming, but hopefully you'll succeed with whatever you wish to do in the end.

To Ellie Belly and Smart Dunce, good on you guys for not making that much a great compromise! And to Hopeles5ly, good luck with being a nerd.

To insert- username, I have the same problem of usually just sitting and doing absolutely nothing. It's quite tempting. Really.

Smart Dunce is right! We should have a bit of balance. Make sure to never sacrifice every itsy bitsy thing in your life or you'll have a breakdown. Unless, that's necessarily what you want. ;D

I'm pretty sure most of us are not sacrificing everything, but merely just making way for more time for committments to homework and studies. We don't want to leave things to the last minute. We want to get things done early while we have the chance. This opportunity to excel and get ahead only comes at limited times.
This is a one-shot in a lifetime kind of thing so it's best to maximise your potential at this stage and give it everything you've got so that you have no regrets at the end.

There's another old English saying "Make hay will the sun shines"
(Sieze the opportunity while you can)
