What uni's best for actuaries (3 Viewers)

macquarie is better if you're planning to do acturarial studies cuz they've had people graduate there in the past and also cuz they're more experienced. new south is pretty new to it.

my bro does acturary at mac. and I think you can do actuary with either maths, accounting, or finance.

to get into actuarials at macq is becoming harder and harder :p well, it isn't that hard. last year was 97.25 :p

heh i still cant quite get over the fact that combined law @ macq is higher than UNSW combined law.

oh, most of the actuarials at macq (at least 2/3s) who combined with law have dropped out of law... because actuarial is too hard. :p this is from second year

yea, and i heard actuarial @ macq's first year drop out rate is over 50%...

not credible sources tho, just rumours...

im in second year now, and out of the people i know about 10% would've dropped out at most. it's besides the point that i don't know that many peeps because i study all day :p

yeah you have to sell your soul to do acturials... thats why i'll look up to anyone who gets through an acturials/law degree at macquarie... omg how freaking smart/dedicated/circus freaky will that person be!!

n well hahaha i guess thats up to you then... sell your soul to the evil that is acturials ... i have to do the easy acturials next semester which my friends have done and dey think is fucking hard (my friends who did 3 unit last year).... i on the other hand have done general *sob*

just goto the one closet to where u live lol

macq actuarial is overhyped anyway just like usyd law....

and the 50% drop out rate was for the D - avg 2 get exemptions for association before the changed it to C wasnt it?

Havent decided on anything

choosing between doing what I would enjoy (engineering) and doing what would make me a very happy man, money wise (actuarial) :D

(assuming id be adequately competent in both fields)

That coming from someone doing Actuarial at UNSW. Funny that. =p

We never had to get a Distinction average for anything. A Credit was enough to have people think twice about continuing. You see, the exams are hard at Macq and they don't really scale you much.

Oh, there isn't really negative marking. They just put that on the unit outline to scare people. It's all just one big scare tactic (although, I must say, it works!). :p

They do it to save marking time.
