I identify myself as a pomosexual, which is short for post-modern sexuality.

Fancy titles aside, it basically means I choose not to associate myself with a mainstream sexuality. I'm not homo, hetero or bi, but choose to pursue relationships based on attraction that is not restricted to gender. That may seem like bisexuality to the general reader, but I classify myself otherwise.

Speaking absolutely in generalisations (i.e. please take no offence to this), I find most bisexuals quite sexually motivated. For me, that is the clear distinction between bisexuality and pomosexuality. It is an emotional attraction which dictates my sexual preference, not a physical or sexual one. Also, I feel my attractions to other people is exclusively emotional before being sexual. I don't think I would pursue anything sexual if I didn't feel an emotional connection, in other words.

I hope I don't regret posting this lol :p
Just to reiterate, I hope this didn't offend anyone :S
Why voluntarily classify yourself at all then?

I find myself both emotionally and physically attracted to both genders but if I'm pressed to classify myself I'll say I'm bisexual because that's what my sexuality "technically" is. Otherwise, I don't really pay it too much attention.

Why bother to make up a completely new label, particularly one as pretentious as that? It also insinuates that it's a "brand new" kind of sexuality and that all bisexuals are only about the sexual attraction both of which are blatantly false assertions. Sure you said it was a generalisation in your post but by creating your own label, you're pretty much turning your nose up at everyone who identifies as bisexual despite what they are actually like.

Double the manliness?
Who do you have to make safe and provide for?

You have odd definitions of manliness

Couldn't one suggest that you have an outdated definition of manliness?
That's hardly fitting with ideas of womens rights and equality there...?

Let's take a vote.

Also, if you want, list your sexuality and what you like/dislike about the things that are associated with it.

Myself, I'm bisexual.

Despite what one may think, nothing changed when I told everyone anyway. I can't say anything is too exciting ;) (except for the fact there are more opportunities... :D hahaah)

don't take offence to this please, i'm simply stating the facts
but a fair few people thought you were gay anyway

in addition to your "except for the fact there are more opportunities" - being bisexual automatically doubles your chances of getting laid on a friday night

I knew this would come out a little weird lol :p

A lot of this is derived from this one incident that happened almost 2 years ago that left me quite broken. After that I really didn't want to pursue anything. You could even say I became asexual for a while. It was quite a depressing time :p
When I finally came around and started to feel confident enough to put myself out there again, I really felt like I didn't have a sexuality. After looking into it, I came across "pomosexuality" and the description really fit. I didn't make it up myself or anything XD! And also, I don't want to distance myself from mainstream sexualities nor do I feel superior to them. My decision on my sexuality was not to affect how I perceive others. It was a completely internal decision coming from my emotions and opinions at the time. It just fit... Really well. It could also be to do with my age. In the future, when I am more comfortable, I might end up firmly declaring myself as a mainstream sexuality.
And yeh I know. I found it really hard to articulate that part about bisexuals. I feel it is all a matter of perspective. I am from a suburban area which is homophobic in places, and in my experiences, that is what I have found. I know it is a generalisation, and I am positive I will meet many bisexual people who are unlike that, but from my localised experiences, it is what I have observed.
I hope that clears a little up :S
Btw, I like being challenged like that =] It's good to nut out these kinds of things.

No, it's post-modern sexuality. Nothing to do with porno :p
Thanks for your comments =] You seem to be taking it seriously, and that means a lot =]

P.S. Who doesn't like a little porno here and there ;)

Isn't a pomosexual the same as a pansexual or omnisexual?

OK so I'm doing that thing where I interrupt a conversation half way through, but its OK cos is the internet.

Surely "po-mo" is a way of derisively referring to wanky post modern shit (cough, that exhibition at the museum of contemporary art, cough). Just then when I read 'pomosexuality' I laughed myself silly and was going to rep whoever made up such a funny word.

.... but it's serious?

That's kinda stupid but understandable in a few ways. I have met and know people who don't like to be classed as any sexuality.

Yeh, some people classify it as the same. To be honest though, I don't think I could be pansexual XD Pansexuality goes beyond the realms of humans doesn't it? Or at least it can. Right? :S
