I'm doing commerce at the moment hoping to transfer to comm/law in 2014. The subjects that I did in s1 were econ1101, acct1501, econ1203 and fins1613. I'm wondering what subjects are easiest to get a high wam for the law transfer. I'm hoping to do a finance major.

Thanks

probably ACCT1511 since you want to major in accounting & finance. the course is not easy but you need it for higher accounting courses.

you can't do two commerce majors when combining with law so decide on which one..

If you are looking at a Finance major you might as well pick up FINS1612. It isn't a hard course but if you get a hardass lecturer it can be hard... ACCT1511 isn't hard either.

Maybe ECON1102 if you like economics?

Where do you find the list of subjects which you can do? on the Commerce handbook it didn't say anything about fins1612. Also, it is possible for me to do MGMT1001 next year as I hear it is a hard subject

If you decided on a major, you click on the major in the handbook and it tells you what courses you need to study for that major. FINS1612 is a core for finanace major. The Commerce degree at UNSW is very flexible. You can study courses out of sequence. I have a friend who didn't do MGMT1001 till 3rd year :)

I find management to be the easiest subject while accounting is an absolute nightmare for me.

Which flexible subject do you think I should pick in terms of its easiness and relevance to the finance major. MARK1012 or INFS1612

what about the flexible ones?
I wouldn't recommend doing FINS2624 and FINS3616 like that if you are not confident in getting great marks. The average for the FINS3616 mid sem this semester was 23/40. Last sem when I did FINS2624, the average was like 25/40.

Is 2624 fine to do first year? How confident should one be... (having done 1613 s1 but not 1612)
It's frequently cited as a 'rape course' even though Henry Yip isn't taking the course. Do 1612 first then move on to 2624 and 3616.

Hmmm ok. I've heard about him, is it as bad without? Still a wam killer? Or would you recommend mgmt over it if wam optimising...

If you can understand financial concepts well then do 2624 otherwise I say MGMT1001 is easier to get marks in than FINS2624. For someone to get HD in FINS1613 and only get a high Credit in FINS2624, it probs mean something :)
