As most Harry Potter fans would be aware, there are three different cover arts for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

1. UK Children's edition - Dumbledore and Harry surrounded by fire

2. UK Adult's Edition - old book entitled "Advanced Potion Making"

3. US Edition - Harry and Dumbledore looking into an old pensieve

What are your thoughts on the different covers and what they might mean for book 6? Which edition do you prefer?

IMO:

US > UK kids > UK adult

The adult one looks stupid, unlike the HP5 adult cover which looked tough as.

I wasn't even aware that there were so many editions. has anyone got the celebratory cinema release editions, basically they have a metallic spine.

I don't like the adult version, it just doesn't seem to fit with the vibe. the children's edition is the original one we see right? well if it is I'll probably get that cos my other ones are like that.

The us version looks weird, I can't explain why, it seems fake (what a stupid thing to say)

UK kids. it cracks me up that they had to make a special one so that adults didn't feel like dumbasses reading it on the train.

which ones is most likely to come out to australia yet?
its out in june right..or is it july?? how come no stores have advertised it yet? remember hp5? LOL THEY ADVERTISED FOR U TO ORDER ONE LIKE 5 MONTHS B4 IT CAME OUT
Both the UK adult and child versions will be available in Australia. The US (purple and green) version will have to be ordered from overseas, if that's the one some one really wants.

It comes out on the 16th of July this year. I don't know what you mean when you say that no stores have advertised it; all book stores I have been to lately have had huge posters of it, saying you can pre-order it.

I too think it's pretty ridiculous that the main reason the adult covers were made is so adults don't feel childish for reading a children's fantasy series. However, I simply love the adult cover for this book. I don't know why! I just love the "Advanced Potion Making" book... it's a spoiler that doesn't spoil too much.

It tells me all I need to know... Snape will play a bigger role ;)

I'm getting the UK kids though, they're always better, but I'm praying that they're release 6 and 7 in the hardback edition with JKRs sig embosed in gold on the front - thats the series that my 'in mint condition' HP is in ;) And they're so pretty. And they cost me a bit too...so they better!
